An example will be Maryland. There was a driver who had a gun inside his CMV but no Maryland Non resident License that is required by the state. He got jailed and prosecuted despite the circumstances of a random fight he got into.
Even if I had a Md Non Res and visited that place to see family with my hardware etc some of it might not be on the permissible list. Arkansas is a pretty free state. But not that free. They removed the mandatory CHL display to LEO in 2013 in favor of a law that was accidential open carry as it was written. Unfortunately someone has to be arrested and tried under that particular law to see if it stands or not. Even with my license etc I still cannot go into certain states and NYC (more than 10 rounds...) and so on. That's not really a problem at all.
Many of you talk company policy. I offer a pizza delivery man example. The outfit says no guns, but there was one who was lured for robbery and drew his concealed gun and used it to drop three. He was fired from his job. That is not necessarily a liability in life because pizza delivery can be done by anyone. No great loss. The district prosecutor declined to charge him.
My thoughts are my own, I carry often in my life away from home without trouble particularly when picking up medicines that have high street value. And more towards home defense than anything else. There is a Marine Kabar as a quiet option along with that tire thumper which already has a minimum of two people's knots on it when they tried to overthrow me real fast at calumet. (Chicago) so there are options.
Whatever you do, consider USCCA for insurance, bond and so forth. With a sufficient amount of civil liability protection added to your insurance. I think I pay 14 dollars a month for a million policy years ago which means after the civil trial after a home defense from the bad guy's grieving family, Im still protected more or less. Its not that hard.
I follow this topic now and then, and as far as the trucking is concerned Im happy to have for the most part gotten away with going into places I would much rather have been armed. But you don't always get to do what you want in life.
Is it illegal to carry a gun in a commercial vehicle?

USCCA is a "scare tactic" company that seeks out the worst case scenarios and uses them to fearmonger money from gunowners that USUALLY need no such services.
I wouldn't give them a second glance, much less my cash.TripleSix Thanks this. -
magazines that come in monthly detail a number of successful home defense and other "Good shoots" for which citizens are not charged or prosecuted. There are a number of medical articles, numberous reviews etc. Ive been with them for 10 years now and there is NO hint of fear mongering etc.
I am more than happy to send you material that will refute your claims that Delta LLC engages in Fear mongering. They have consistently brought in people who are experts in the law associated with deadly force such as Mr Ayoob who is recognized globally in his field for giving lectures and other important considerations for those who have the time, funds and able to travel to see him. We had him here in Arkansas twice at my home range to give talks to a few dozen.
Finally but not last, Delta LLC is not the only influence on exercising our right to be armed under the 2nd Amendment but there are many other influences around the USA that carry forward many resources availible for anyone to pursue knowledge in the Law as it stands in the different states today.
Finally but not last, Delta LLC (Aka USCCA) has made it clear that my insurance for which I pay each month now is not limited to just gun defense. If it involves a knife, fists or simple pushing and shoving etc, I can use these insurance resources in my own defense as well. You no longer need to be limited to using a gun in defense. ANY defense that is humanly possible is now covered as a event by USCCA. If I had coverage when I was attacked by two thugs in Chicago that one day 20 plus years ago and used my tire thumper on them to make knots I would have been able to make bond, find a lawyer and proceed with the defense of my situation as it happened.
Fear Mongering is the two words not used anywhere in the USCCA Environment nor is it used or discussed as a path to scare people within the Delta LLC environment. You can and should make contact with the people in the Officers section who are in the leadership positions of those two companies and they too will explain to you and refute explictly that the fear mongering simply does not exist.
We are fixing to engage in active shooter training with the Arkansas State Police in active shoots at the end of the year that will take about 4 to 8 hours day once the course work is finalized and sent to the instructors to get the classes started. Im already enrolled in it and will come out of there with a enhanced carry license allowing me to engage any active shooter bad guys on the Arkansas State Capitol Property on up to College Campuses and things of that nature. Theoratically there are about 170,000 active conceal carry licenses now valid in this State. (Texas has about 1.4 million...) in daily use.The new enhanced licensees will enable tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of college students to also train and carry. The bad guys will not have a chance. Our Schools are also armed daily with a staff who are also trained to engage active shooters.
If that is not enough Israel deploys IDF staffers to Arkansas to teach core classes in IDF handgun, rifle and other anti terrorist course work that is well above and beyond your typical brain dead thuggie gang banging here in the Rock. Camp Robinson has also participated in NLR as part of urban combat training for those with rifles of the AR platform and a desire to learn how to be effective in a variety of situations. One class coming up includes basic Trauma Gun shot wounding EMT type first aid that includes a range of scenarios based on what it takes to save a life of someone who has been shot in the field.
We train constantly. If we aint training, we aint learning. So there is that.Last edited: Jul 14, 2017

Okie dokie then.
Glad you like them.
BTW - Mas Ayoob is pretty good. Use other instruction with his though.
I have had the "active shooter" training. It will be of some use to you if you never did it before.
Maybe get you thinking of tactics to use so you don't get mistaken for "the shooter".
I got most of the med stuff. Was pretty well covered in my Paramedic Degree. -
You have a "duty to inform" in most States anyway.
As long as you are legal, no problemo.
Been there MANY times without a hitch.
Also....
They run my license, and they already know anyway. My firearms permit shows up on the NCIC CAD as plain as day.
I declare mine, tell them where it is stored, and they say "Okay, just leave it there."
If you are in another State, the Firearms Owners Protection Act (Federal Law) protects you as long as you follow the proper procedures for transport.
As for stopping in a State....
Not sure about you, but I am "travelling" from the time I leave home til the time I get back home.
My stops are not setting up residence, nor are they "final destinations".
FWIW, you can also FLY with a firearm relatively easy.
Again, you DECLARE it... they inspect and do paperwork.... and you lock it in the case and shove it in your CHECKED BAG.
At destination airport, there is NO further action to take. Just grab your checked bag and leave. -
As a O/O it is an extension of your home because it is "yours".
As a Lease operator, it is your "leased" place of business, just like the apartment where people live or store space in a shopping center are leased. And you are allowed cause it is defacto "your property" by contract.
As a company driver, you are on your own. Do what you do and keep mouth shut. -
Rix43, Bama Roadrunner and Bean Jr. Thank this.
