HELLO I have been accepted to partner with DDI to haul containers here in Baltimore. Does anyone know about this company. According to there website it seems like a decent company. Percentage pay, 100% fuel surcharge. 24/7 dispatcher. The only thing I don't like is they have company driver.
This will be my first contract as an owner operator. I'm hoping it will be a great experience and I learn a lot, thanks for the feed back in advance.

DDI runs a non-stop ad on Craigslist. That's a huge warning sign to me. What it's going to boil down to is what makes you happy. Revenue? Distance? Rail vs Port? Dispatcher games. Etc etc.

the problem with running % is that they are giving you a percentage of what, they are pushing too hard to recruit yet you don't see them a lot in the northeast I can go days without seeing their trucks heck I can only tell you about one that runs a dry van from the phily area to somewhere in the pa turnpike.

I have seen 2 trucks in the baltimore area. I think they are just a small company that is looking to expand. Im sure they have more trucks in other areas.

Are they giving you copies of the rate confirmation? If not, how do you REALLY know what percentage they're giving you? Lot's of potential to steal from you.

I do recon on employers by asking their drivers about the company.

Many people do but with the increasing referral bonus options out there I'm getting skeptical of even their opinion these days.

DDI is based out of Ashland, VA. When I was leased on with them my settlement check was always short, the dispatchers were clueless, and the freight paid crumbs. You were expected to complete TONS of paperwork and overall it was an inefficient operation for an owner operator. I lasted 6 months.

    TruckYou and JimmyWells Thank this.
