So, I had a question that popped into my head as I was reading the forum, and I figured I would ask the experts.
Why don't car carriers use car covers to protect against hail or road debris damage?
Is damage pretty rare, so the risk isn't great enough, or are covers too much of a pain or time consuming to mess with?
It's a random idle question, but since we have all you folks who haul day in and day out, I figured I'd scratch that itch and find out.
Car Covers while transporting?

Car covers come loose and risk damaging a unit.
Some manufacturers use condoms (my term) some mustangs, Corvettes, hyuandis, and others.BigBob410, brian991219 and Joab Rynere Thank this. -
A small flapping corner can run up a big claim?
Joab Rynere and crb Thank this. -
I once parked next to a 9 car carrier with a fleet of maseratis. The wraps on some of the units had come off. The driver did his pretrip then he took off with wraps flapping in the wind. I could tell that he didn't care.

I saw a car carrier going down 231 in lower Alabama with a new convertible Camaro up top, and the convertible top looked like it was half open, flapping in the wind. Seemed like a real expensive way to test wind drag to me...

When you haul new cars and they have put wrap or a cover on the driver IS NOT responsible.
Remove it from flapping after if has scratched the paint and you are paying a claim.
Leave it and let it flap, they write it up but not against the driver. -
It is ineffective, know guy who hauls Audis, they all are covered but tree branch scratched car as it would scratch without cover. Sliced like a butter
Joab Rynere Thanks this. -
Ive hauled many a VW's and Audi's out of the Port of Houston and many of those units are wrapped. The ONLY thing the driver is responsible for is the driver side door. Everything else is excluded from any damage, unless you intentionally beat it to hell. And if the cover tears and flaps in the wind and beats the unit up, not a transporter caused event.
