NXS to 6NZ

    Hi forum members. I'm new here. Wanted to know if a 07 NXS Block can replace an 02 6NZ Block? I have a bad 6NZ block and would like to swap everything out into the NXS block. Is this doable?

    Are you going to just use the bare block and put everything in it from the 6nz? Timing gears, crankshaft, front cover structure, etc?..if so then yes its the same block.

    Would I be able to use the NXS crankshaft if I switch to 16:1 pistons? Or would the longer stroke of the NXS crank cause a problem with the 6NZ ecm timing?

    Youll need to buy the 16:1 accert one piece steel genset pistons or have .080 milled off the top of the 18:1 mxs pistons to lower them to 16:1...your 6nz ecm will work Great as long as you use the front cover with the 6nz cam sensor and the 6nz cam gear.

    1: Will the 16:1 genset pistons use the standard NXS or 6NZ piston rings?

    2: Will I be able to use the new 6NZ liners I have in the NXS block along with the NXS rotating assembly or will I have to return them and get NXS liners?

    3: Will I have to get NXS genset liners for the NXS one piece steel genset pistons?

    Liners are the same, yes on the nxs rings. I would go with the (heavyhaul) rings. Dont remember the part #.

    Has anyone had any problems milling .80 thousands off the tops of the pistons?
