I run mine 25000 in the summer time and 15000 to 20000 in the winter. My idle time is almost 0%.

I know exactly what you mean on keeping a close eye on ones truck. I do the same as you just said and I also look over my truck when at dock getting unloaded. One won't believe the potential problems that I saved myself from. Owner op for three years and have not been broken down on the side of the road yet. Its also nice to have guys like you on the forum giving advice on some of these problems. Always appreciative!

Also good to consider the oil brand and type... Not all are the same. Probably the worst is white bottle Rotella 15-40.

    You base this on what?

Lol.. look up their volatility %
Last i knew it was around 12% +/-

so in a ten gallon system ... Roughly 1.2 gallons are going to burn off during the life cycle of the oil.

There are far better oils than white bottle rosemella... They make a good synthetic ... The T6 or semi syn T5

It can't be all that bad because a good many people had gotten many a mile out of their engines using it. What are you calling the life cycle?

I've been thinking about moving with the new technology and increasing my oil intervals but i just can t get myself to do it, i think up to 13 to 15 K is more than reasonable for this use i know rotella is better than delvac from personal experience and opinion, but on the other hand i ve never really tried serching on what the actuall life span of that oil could be, i know i have a few customer that push delvac that i use up to 25K with a gallon or so top off and no issues to the engine also clean oil samples, i believe thats pushing it for convetional oil.

Have you done oil analysis between Delvac and white bottle rotella?

Just curious because I've seen allot of other guys w/ higher wear metals with shell rotella compared to Mobil Delvac 1300. I had this happen in the caterpillar motor in my Freightliner years ago, including about triple the oil consumption.

IDK about the intervals.. the Volvo has a awesome system compared to most other motors. I think 25-30k isn't stretching anything. UPS goes 40k+ and still gets pretty good life

My truck is Volvo 2013, I-shift, 780 with D13 eng, 500HP. It has 1,800,000KM/1.2MM. The biggest cost for repair was for replacing Valve head due to idling it too much (Some time i kept truck running for two weeks and + without shutting it off. After that costly repair i had to change that bad driving habit). Since first oil change, on my truck, i am using synthetic oil Rotella T-6 5W40. I do lube at 18,000KM/11,200M x 3 makes 54,000KM/33,500M . At the 3th lube (54,000KM/33,500M) I do oil change as well, alldo Volvo says in owner manual to change an oil at 75,000KM/46,500M.(They saying 75,000KM with regular oil), First replacement of fuel Injectors was at 8000,000KM/50,000M at Volvo dealer ship Calmont in Calgary, Alberta because they said one fuel Injector was bad. Truck was still covered by the manufacturer warranty and i ask them to replace all of them. That was my mistake. Just little over one year, same Volvo Calmont dealer ship in Calgary Alberta said truck needs new Injectors. Of Course, Dealer ship warranty (one year) has expired. That time i had to pay for Injectors and labor out of my pocket. Since that time, 1,000,000KM/620,000M, I have no issues concerning Injectors. Jet. Also i had problems with Oil Spinner filter. While I was driving i couldn't see any oil leak, but when I stop and checked Oil level, level was too low but i couldn't see any oil leak.4 different Truck Repair shops did reparation on it and they just kept cleaning oil spinner filter and putting new seals and gaskets on it. Finally, at fourth truck repair shop i requested them to change oil spinner's filter. After they did "problem solved". Never have any issues with after.. Other repairs on my truck were: 1-.once replace Turbo. 2-.cleaned (not baked) DPF two times, (just a regular cleaning on my request). 3-. After the first coolant hose burst I have requested all of coolant hoses to be changed and almost all of those were replaced with new once. 4-.Cleaned EGR cooler once on my request. Oo...yes, there was two more repairs on my truck: At Volvo STEALLER Ship ( Don't go there or call those) in Surrey British Columbia, they said my truck needs new EGR valve. 160KM/100M later down on the road I got the same issue and the same faulty code. I have to mention I never got any core credit for my EGR valve neither my old EGR valve back from that STEALLER Ship in Surrey BC. They charged Me $3.000 labor included. So I believe that was RIP OFF. Than next, I had to stop at the next Volvo Dealer Ship, ( 300KM/180M ), happy i made it to there, located in Kamloops British Columbia. They replaced NOX sensors and Problem was solved. Those guys were amazing and that Volvo Dealer Ship is my favorite Dealer Ship once i am in BC. That is all of maintenance record on my truck so far. Truck is running well, no faulty codes whatsoever. BUT recently i am experiencing way higher fuel consumption. 42 L/11.1G per 100KM/62M. Fuel consumption used to be 32-33L in Summer season and 34-35-36L per 100KM in Winter season. Also sometime, not all of the time, it has a harder start. Some time I need to crank it 5-6-7 seconds to start engine. What could be wrong with my truck now?
