1. The loads booked for brand new IC were to get back home in Alabama. 1. First load was $1.40 from Phoenix to SoCal. 2nd Load was SoCal to Manteca for $142 and third load was Tracy to Denver for $1.78. Told him he wouldn't get good freight out of Denver but at leas t from there he could go to Topeka, Oklahoma or Dallas and from there shouldn't be an issue getting east.
2. You are correct about after everything you might take home $1000 to $1200 a week and for most of us that sounds pretty good. I worked my tail off to make 71K teaming staying out 342 days out of the year. My take home was closer to 50K. Making that and staying out of California, NY and avoiding ice storms sounds pretty good to me.
3. You may be right in a way that some loads are hidden. It's placed on one company driver way out and then switched to another driver later. Never seen it happen but know it is possible to do. DBL's are not allowed to plan loads for drivers and get in a lot of trouble if they try. That's way above anything I ever saw. Don't know anything about loads being cancelled in favor of company drivers.

In closing you take a guy off the street just trying to feed his family. He goes to 3 weeks of School to get his CDL. Struggles but lasts a year and figures out he can go O/O and provide a better living for his family. Takes the plunge and suddenly takes home 50-60K a year. Sounds a lot better then investing $125,000 for college on the hopes of making $18 an hour. I never planned on driving a truck for a living but if I'm here might as embrace it and do the best I can.

Seems they slowly disappeared except for the fact that company trucks still in and out of them constantly.

 

I want to say that @CaptainDaveG alerted us to this scam while it was in progress out in Bear River City, UT quite some time back. Seems I was following it here, might have been a facebook group. Anyhow, good paying loads from there to PA suddenly cancelled, but one of the drivers was already there to pickup when the cancellation alerts came. Turns out, none of the loads cancelled and Schneider got a little peeved at the fact that the drivers checked on the loads through the customer and picked them up anyway.

Schneider didn't used to play these games, but they have gotten steadily worse and worse.

 

I'm not hating just trying to open his eyes to the choice reality.

Is it terrible nope however it's not even close to what it was and it's dang sure worse than Schneider will tell anybody.

I'm all for everyone bettering themselves but I'm also about telling the truth about how choice really is!

And that's from experience not recruiting lies.

 

And then .60/mile to the locations you listed. Then, from OK or Dallas, look to get another whopping .85/mile if you want to head anywhere other than back to Colorado.

Its a game of risk for the lease purchase folks. run high miles constantly to cover the expenses and bring home a grand or so per week before taxes come out. Most likely, 90% of these folks will never truly track their numbers and see what they are earning per hub mile on a yearly basis.

Trade truck in at three years, rinse and repeat. As soon as you get a truck that has problems, they leave and end up with a bad mark on their credit.

Plan on paying that truck off? I hope you realized that the expenses get much higher on these emissions trucks after 500k miles. And after running 150K per year, you end up with a worn out truck by the time you manage to get it paid for, little to no equity in the worn out truck, and ultimately starting the process all over again.

This is a business, and the endgame of a business is to be earning profit and debt free, and if not debt free, only because you are building your business bigger.

That $1.78 to Denver, 4 years ago you could go in there any day and every day with Schneider freight for more than $3.00/mile. Even at $3.00/mile, I ignored it unless it was a really dead area or I was stuck somewhere due to a load cancellation/delay.

 

Spot on man. I passed on $2.56 to Denver & I passed on $2.83 to long island. Both loads were about 700 miles in length.

I actually probably would've ran the load to the island had I not had other plans.

Here's what I know. I had a great couple of lanes when I was an IC. Denver to Valliant OK then Dallas back home. Denver to KC then something over to Edwardsville IL and plenty to get back to Denver. All decent usually cleared 1800.00 to 2400.00 never worse. Left went to a lease and run as much as you want paper logs reefer always 3500 to 6000.00 after all expenses except weekly truck payment. Now on my own even better. I don't run crazy, it's awesome. I'm leaving Sunday grabbing a load to Tempe. 1200.00 a little filler to from there to San Diego 850.00 then the kill. San Diego to Denver 4500.00 one pick one drop. I pay Loves 4% to factor. It's all good at the helm here.
