Try Estes, not sure if they are hiring. I applied last year, got passed over. Got the email/ Thank you for your interest we've gone with other candidates or the position no longer exists.
Funny thing is their corporate office called and did a quick preliminary phone interview and they passed my file onto Phoenix, which they then decide if they want to proceed. I applied for city and linehaul actually, you have to apply to each job separately even though it's the same company.
I actually wanted linehaul and to run the extra board, that's where the money is. Oh well I had to accept reality and move on. I'm honestly tired of city p&d but the hours are pretty good where I'm at now. As good as can be for being on the extra board.

I actually got offered from estes bit it would of been a $300 a week pay cut so I couldnt do it, but are all linehaul positions at night? Where are you working now?

I think most linehaul are at night, maybe some during the day which senior drivers would most likely be doing. The $300 a week pay cut would hurt most definitely, was that a city position? Their linehaul makes good coin as far as I know.
I'm at Reddaway, overtime after 8, free insurance. That's the 2 biggest reasons I went to work there. Pay is not the greatest but it works for me, for now anyways. Good place to work though, pretty relaxed. Do your job and they don't bug you, no micromanagement here. Actually good management in place here.

It's kinda unfortunate about the UPSF thing; It really does depend on the terminal----for instance, here a new driver will make over 50K their first year---even starting at $17.40/hr----because of the overtime.

And things change. We just lost a large account, which will probably not affect you guys out west.

So, if they said, "no guaranteed hours," BUT the job was full-time, then i suspect you'd get at least around 40.

But it really does depend on the terminal. Here you are "guaranteed" 45-50+ hours a week.

Was the opening full-time or part-time? If full-time, then the contract guarantees (for real) 40 hours once you make it into the union after the 45 day probation.

Yeah it was full time, and the guy told me that you should get close to 40 but nothing is guaranteed it kind of just as they need you, also starting would be 80% dock work also and just driving as needed and the starting pay for dock work was 16.xx and then when you drove 17.40 so starting is kinda a messy situation.

Yes, i suspect it would be close to or at 40.

And let me make a correction. SOME(very few) routes (at least at my terminal) ARE NOT guaranteed 8 hour runs per the contract. (Although in reality they will take at least 8 hours to complete, so for all practical purposes they ARE "guaranteed" 8 hour runs, unless it is light that day which is rare)

But most of the runs are guaranteed 8, and after you gain more seniority, you'd probably get on one of those runs.

i suspect that if someone did take that position and stuck with it, it would eventually turn out solid.

The other thing you might consider, and i'm not crazy about Uber or Lyft, but you might also consider doing that part-time or some other part-time gig in order to supplement the lower starting pay.

I might look into that but not sure about the idea of that either, but I did keep the terminar managers phone number and I actually called him like 2 weeks ago to ask and see if anything had changed or what not but he said no, and mabey next year after they re do thier contract.

If you have your tanker endorsement, BOLT transportation is looking for drivers to haul liquid sucrose & fructose. Deliver to beverage manufacturers from PHX to TUC east and LA area west. New day cab Petes and smoothbore food grade tankers.
