Just wanted to get something off my chest.
Rand McNally support on this site is fantastic. Mark answers questions, and helps people in a very timely matter, and he is really irreplaceable...
But, my question is, why do we have to get to Truckersreport.com to get support for a Rand McNally product? When you buy a brand new, $600 GPS, does it say anywhere in the box, go to truckersreport.com?
I have a few friends that have a problem with their GPS, and they get nowhere with the official Rand support. They're not very computer savvy, and they were surprised when I told them about this forum.
Also, Rand RMA sucks. And I mean, big time sucks... I bought my Rand tablet in August 2016, and it has been back to Rand for various issues three times. All 3 times it was a hardware fault, nothing was my mistake. Rand will only pay for a basic, I guess ground UPS. It always takes about 6-7 days from when I send it to them, and also, when they send it to me. Ten business days turnaround. It's 17th of August today, they received it on 4th... They still have it, and nothing has been done. But, according to Rand, they only had it for six days.
In the last year, my GPS was back with Rand for about 3 months. When I asked if they will extend the warranty for the time it spent with them, I was flatly told no. Your warranty will expire one year from the time of purchase... And that sucks
I just want to thank Mark for all the hard work and all the hours that he is doing here for a GPS that should be supported through official channels, not a third party forum.
Cheers

My TND Tablet 80, The RM services stop, my dash cam would not open and the truck GPS would not open. Thankful I was home and not on the road since I had to use the WiFi for support to help fix it. They were really nice and helpful. If I was on the road I would of had to buy another one just to make sure I stay on track. I know us new guys should just read a map like the old days. I wonder if everyone who says that still writes letters and mails them instead of using their cell phone. Technology is horrible.
My GPS is 3 months old. -
Anytime you have issues with RM Support and RMA's, please let me know and start a Conversation with me and let me know your Name and RMA number.
I deal directly with the supervisor over Customer Support along with higher management.
Thanks,

And I gave up having a single, stand alone GPS. Rand McNally's paper map has always been good enough, and Google Maps with satellite view can give me good last mile directions (written on paper with and actual pen!) -

hey mark heres one for you. i have had 3 units in 7 years starting with the 520. my main use is to track the fuel and miles run for ifta. loved it. had a 720 no big problems and then a 730. it was a pos and they finaly exchanges it with another. same isue no signal at start with out spending 20 min resetting every time. finaly got tired of it and got the 740 after x-mas. now i find out that i can not get the miles and fuel reports off of it because it is android based. so now i have a 400.00 boat anchor. there was nothing said about this not working any more on box or any where in ops manuel. i repeat that was my main reason for the units since the 520. now tech says sorry sir the dock feature is no longer used and you cant download the files. randy m. 309-275-1079. i would like my $ back as this is bs . or talk to someone with some brains as that is not a option with the tech line that took from 9 till 12:30 today to talk to 1st person.
