That sucks. I feel your pain. Put your time in and keep your records clean and go to LS, or Interstate, or Mercer where you can pick your own freight.
Nothing used to make me more insane than being dispatched. I was on with a small company out of Phoenix, did OK, was home every weekend, but it was dispatched, and I pulled A LOT of HEAVY freight over the friggin mountains in that time, while I watched guys that had been there for awhile go back and forth to Dallas for the same money.
Well lights green. Time to bounce.
Sit or bounce?

I sit at times. But when what I do and the rates are in the toilet within a 500 mile radius I sit.
We don't have that many direct shippers at this time.. But I still refuse to haul cheap.Ruthless, Dave_in_AZ, Razororange and 4 others Thank this. -
I might sit one day if I'm in a good market. Otherwise I'll bounce. The difference between sitting & bouncing is just the cost of fuel & my truck doesn't burn much fuel when empty. It costs me about $100 to bounce 500 miles. Either way, whether I sit or spend a day bouncing the load I do get has to cover the daily revenue I lost sitting or dead heading.
Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
@passingthru69
I am sitting here thinking about a big deadhead to get a load exactly like the one I just hauled - only out of Miami going to Northern Cal.
Think they will hold
It for a week? And come up the $10k I would need?Professional Passenger, Ruthless, Razororange and 1 other person Thank this. -
No some south Fl fool will cut your bid in half.

About what I thought you all would say. I'm not going to sit waiting for a load or for the rates to come up. You want me? Tell me now or i am on to the next load. By the way, most of the loads will pay round trip money but you can't expect them all to.

Less than 500 miles or middle of the week and there's nothing I start rolling home and look for stuff along the way.
In winter I bounce back home often. Just too much work from local customers to waste time on load board junk.
Don't have time to waste hauling cheap freight that basically only covers fuel cost and a little in my pocket for 3 days of goofing around.Lepton1, cke and DDlighttruck Thank this. -
cke, passingthru69 and Razororange Thank this.
