Sit or bounce?

Yea, like I said during the summer cheaper stuff heading home is ok because it's better than nothing and I don't have anything else to be doing. If I drive home with nothing on the deck I don't get paid. That's fine if there's something good waiting when I get back. Not so much if I'm just going to be standing around.

The only thing I hate about the cheap stuff heading home is having to tarp it.

I don't mind tarping a multi million dollar generator piece, but I'm not a fan of tarping something a guy dug out of a muddy snow bank to put on the trailer.

 

Before running empty, I'll look for a partial. Get a fair rate that pays for the fuel. I won't take that 48,000# of wood,stone or ????? To cover fuel.

No sir, a nice light load, no tarp. Then bounce, especially if it's a Friday afternoon.
Recent trips. 1000 miles out of Denver. Took a partial to Nebraska paid $400.00. along the route to home.

Ran empty 900 miles out of Rapid City, SD. on a Friday memorial weekend. To home.

I don't like sitting unless I'm home.

 

My business model is atypical: however, based on the area I service, I price everything as round trip.. I always expect to dh at least half my mileage, but admit some weeks it's a lot more than half and some weeks a bit less.
Which I feel, puts me in a position of strength in negotiations as I'm already home, or I'm paid enough to come home empty and therefore the return load has to pay enough to be worth my time bc I don't need a backhaul to make my average rate even out to a sustainable #.

Headed out to the country fair now for fresh roast beef sandwiches and whatever goodies the church booth has left. Got a standing pledge to the church booth that any of the chocolate covered bacon they have left I'll buy in full. Took me 7 ####ing years to convince them to make and sell it: they've doubled how much they make every year & it sells out every year

Must've been dealing with a bunch of women on a comittee...most men would agree that you simply cannot go wrong with bacon. Then you're covering it in chocolate? Those are the only two substances on the planet capable of making ANYTHING they are added to taste better...and you're putting them together!

On a side note (but sort of related), I've mentioned to a lot of women that they could save a ton of money on that expensive perfume by just smearing a little bacon grease on their necks. I'm usually met with "that's gross"...which leads me to guess you were probably dealing with a bunch of women. They just don't seem to understand how much men enjoy the taste and smell of bacon.

 

Will bacon cover tuna smell.. curious now...
