I do like my setup as it currently works. If it changes [for the worse], than I'll wait to see how the employer is going to offset the loss in earnings time availability. If they do nothing, and expect me to earn less and drive less, then I'll probably exit the trade a little early. My back can't tolerate any more time in a sleeper [and not in the seat] then I currently deal withspyder7723 and snowwy Thank this. -
You talk like elogs are a brand new thing. Some carriers have been using them for over a decade. Ive been personally using them for about 16 months. All these worse case scenarios you keep talking about smoky don't Happen when you plan. Don't take a load that you can't fulfill legally. It's that freaking simple. If you take a load that puts you at the reciever with only an hour on your clock.. that's on you for taking a load you knew was going to cause you to violate hos.
Seriously all of your complaints come off as i hate elogs cause they won't let me cheat my logs. -
>> Well Gee Im so glad your the perfect driver that never runs into Shipper or receiver issues, Never run into traffic, Never run into the unknown. Do you just run local???
Yes I hate Elogs because
1) they are another way for the government to over regulate an industry they know nothing about.
2) its the government telling me what i can do with MY truck on my personal time and keep track of me
3) its going to interfere with how we run and how we make money.
4) its unfair from the get go when certain drivers already get an exemption (cattle) and the rest have to run the Elog way, why, we all drive a Class A truck.
its not that i want to run Illegal, but any means, but i want to run smart and not have some program that some twit behind a desk design that doesn't work int he real world.
its funny, a LOT of drivers are already complaining about them and a lot more are complaining about what they will do.
So tell me how they are great???? -
1: this industry is no more regulated than any other. Do i like government regulating industries? Not at all but that's an entirely different discussion that falls under politics.
2: thats no different than the ceo of United airlines complaining about the government telling him what he can do with his jets. Its been hashed out over and over and over and the answer is the same as its always been, when using the truck for personal reasons log out of the elog. Problem solved.
3: if it interferes with how you run and make money then you are not currently following hos rules. If you are currently running legal it won't effect you in this context.
4: yes it is unfair that live stock haulers get an exemption. Deal with it. Life isn't fair. You can write your congressman and complain. But something tells me he cares more about the political ramifications of going against the beef, pork, and chicken industries than you and i whining about it not being fair. -
