Sorry, busy day but I'll just say a driver from the same company took off our left front quarter at the truck stop because they turned before the trailer was clear.... apparently not only can some of them not back up but some can't drive forward either....

Well we were able to get back on the road, it tore off left side of the bumper, pulled the headlight off the body and snapped off half our brush guard.

We cut all the loose stuff off and were able to tape the headlight back on. Sounds dodgy I know, but it's workable.

The crap part was about 6hrs later we had a trailer tire blow out and sat on the side of the road 4.5hrs. It was unrelated to the parking lot mishap.

I can't remember a time when I couldn't back a trailer...I've known how to back a trailer longer than I've known how to read. Grandpa started me out on the lawn tractor as soon as I could reach the pedal. Only kid in my class in kindergarten that could back a trailer. Sad thing is, when I got to CDL school that hadn't really changed much.

This post wasn't about people struggling to learn it's about a company that doesn't properly train drivers before sending them on the road.

In the instance where our truck was hit while sitting parked, the driver had her cdl for only 4 months AND she was training a new student.

After seeing this happen I understand completely why the 1st guys I made this topic about couldn't back up. They were likely rushed through a training process designed in such a way a monkey could probably pass it and they likely did get much one on one training with a "experienced" driver.

It's absolutely absurd that a company would have brand new drivers out there training other drivers. It's why these guys can't back up, because their trainers probably hadn't even grasped how to do it well yet much less how to train someone to do it.
