And I knew that going in. I goofed up a little in the past and found most of the doors to good companies closed. But a year later, I'm buying a truck and heading out on my own...so I guess, for me, it worked out ok in the end.

TransAm served a good purpose in your situation. Friend of mine worked for TransAm as a company driver for 2 years and liked working there. He quit because his wife pressured him to get a local job. Overall though, it's a second chance company.

If you are looking for a good company to start with May Trucking is a good choice. Mississippi is a good location, they have a terminal in Pensacola. They will run you good as long as you do as expected. There are a few dicks at the office in Oregon but those are anywhere.

Well, I don't know where you are located, so not really. You know your area, start knocking on doors. the smaller companies don't usually recruit from schools, you have to find them, but in my case it was a 40 truck flatbed outfit that more ore less trained me to be an o/o from day one with the autonomy they gave me. I learned my craft, networked with brokers and direct shippers and when the opportunity presented itself to get in a situation to get into my own truck, I knew exactly where to put it to work and what my loads would pay. I worked my tail off figuring out how to do it successfully...it didn't just happen.

Big M runs a logistics warehouse in Blue Mountain. I delivered there and was running behind schedule. Called them well in advance with a sitrep. They held over and accomodated me after their closing time.

They seem like good folks and use common sense vs go by the book or die.
