When we lived in Florida, we did most of our food shopping at Walmart, as they were much cheaper than the other grocery stores down there.

You really can't beat Walmart when it comes to groceries. As Jen said Dollar general does have some things cheaper. When I see people in the Winn Dixie loading up on groceries, I wonder why they chose to pay double and sometimes triple for what they could get a whole lot cheaper. I love my money too much and I love Walmart. :yes2557:

Maybe they're like me, --- trying to insure I'll have a CHOICE
of where to shop in the future.

    Did y'all google
The High Cost of Low Price ?

Did any of y'all watch the documentary by the same title?
If that don't cause y'all to go
    Hmmmmmmmmm .........
    I don't know what would.

    Wally*World is NOT y'all's friend, folks. :biggrin_25512:

Been there, actually debated this and had to write a paper for college on that topic.

When I have a limited budget, I shop where I can get the best prices on food, especially having three teenage boys to feed. I go where I can get the best bang for my buck.

Publix, Winn Dixie, Albertson's and the other options available in Florida have ridiculous prices on groceries. Here in Madison, and in other parts of Wisconsin, we have a chain called Woodman's that blows even Walmart's prices on food out of the water.

Okay I have to ask: WHY are you buying snakes? Is it for a cassarole? :biggrin_2551:

Here in Killeen, the choice is limited. We have H.E.B. or Wal-Mart. So we shop at both. Truthfully the Ft Hood Commissary is their biggest competition.

I think no matter where you shop you can't just trust them to be the least expensive, you have to compare and keep a sharp eye on them at check-out to make sure the price you're charged is correct.

    I need a job --- so I'll work (support) a bottom-feeder truckin' company?
As long as we support 'em, they'll continue to do what they do.
Run legitimate businesses OUT of business --- then, RAISE their prices.

    We HAVE a voice, folks.
    It's time we shout
WE AIN'T GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE!

Low prices CAN be a bigger rip-off than y'all might imagine.
Wally*World's (seemingly) low prices aren't to benefit the consumer.
    NopE!
They're to benefit a HUGE corporation. And a scandalous one at that.
Just like the bottom-feeder truckin' companies ruin opportunities for
    others, so does Wally.

When I delivered to a Wal*Mart distribution center, years ago, it
was explained to me that Wal*Mart's main objective, at that time, was
to put K-Mart OUT of business because K-Mart had the audacity to cross
the Mason-Dixon Line, which Wal*Mart considered THEIR territory.
Kinda like the street gangs claiming their territory.
Or dogs marking trees and fire hydrants.
    Strong-arm tactics.
    So much for free enterprise.

    BTW, where is K-Mart today?
One LESS place to choose to shop.
    Seems Wally succeeded.
    So much for free choice.

Now it's Merv, biting the bullet.
    In business since 1949 ----
    Who's next in line?

Where will we choose to shop when Wal*Mart is the ONLY game in town?
And to whom will we compare prices, then?
Today, we DO have a choice.
    What will tomorrow bring?

Not to mention that Wal*Mart Corporation contributes MILLIONS of dollars
to campaign funds. Ever wonder which political party Wal*Mart favors?
Hint: the same one Tyson Foods favors.

    Capitalism?
    Not hardly.
    More like Communism ---
We will BURY you --- from within.
    Seems they were right.
    IMplosion --- rather than EXplosion.
    And IMports from China.
While America's main EXport, is jobs and industries.

:biggrin_25518: Wake UP, folks, while y'all still can.
If we're not part of the solution,
    we're part of the problem.

Meanwhile, Wal*Mart continues to pay LOW wages to go along with
    those LOW prices.
    Benefits?
Y'all don't need no stinkin' benefits.
    Y'All can be replaced.
    Long live Wally!

    HellO, and welcome to Wal*Mart.
    Here's Y'all's cart.
    Fill 'er up.

    We CAN make a difference.
    Buy AMERICAN products.
    Save an AMERICAN'S job,
    before it's shipped overseas.

    Will that require a sacrifice?
    YuP!
For those who are willing to save THIS Country,
    and all it stands for.
Take that stand, before we're knocked down to our knees,
    begging for a handout.
    Wally is a billionaire.
Not too likely he'll be next to us in the bread line.

    Save now, pay later.
Time to think of our children.
What will we be leaving THEM?
    Wal*Mart?

    Nero fiddles while Rome burns.
And the matches were purchased at,
    YuP,
    you guessed it -----
    Wal*Mart.

As Wal* Mart "helps" the community,
    by destroying it.
