Nevermind. I responded then saw Marks post, so I'll remove my comment since I can't delete it.

    I'm a YA also

But Mark here is a thought and a concern. If in order to use the device correctly and fully, a new user would need to sit down with you for 45 minutes to get a lesson then I would say there is something seriously wrong with the intial set of instructions.
You should be trouble shooting, not teaching.
A driver that drops $400-$650 for a new GPS should be able to take it out of the box , set it up and use it on thier own following the directions included with the device. Not need to contat RM to help with everything.
    Just a thought.

So I had a weird bug with the 740.

I was driving through Louisville on 65 south on my way to Nashville. I get to the 65/264 interchange on the south part of Louisville. The 740 spoke to take 264, and the lane guidance screen also showed to take 264, but the actual route it generated was to stay on 65 (it never recalculated the route after I stayed on 65). Don't know if I explained it makes sense.

OK. I just purchased the Overdryve 8 Pro. It is a great product except for one MAJOR issue. What was RM thinking not having Google Play Services as part of the OS?!! Yes we can use the other APK providers suggested by the tablet, but I use a specific android app created by Landstar (Available Loads for BCOs) and I can only get the most recent version via Google Play. The other APK repositories have older versions. Also, the other repositories do not allow for automatic app updates ( gotta manually select to check). I checked for an update on the other repositories and they state that there is no update to the app available ( which is wrong, as Google Play has the latest version of the app).

It just seems completely irrational to not include a valuable service on the highest end RM unit and will probably return the unit and revert back to my TND80 which DOES have Google Play Services included in the OS. Or wait for root solution...

As with any device anybody buys, how many actually take the time to read the manual? I know I don't. The manual is over 100 pages long and can be gotten from the RM web site. What I go over is not simple instructions of how to put in a route, but many tricks and ways to use the unit. Remember I have been using this software since 2008 with all its updates. When I am at the shows I go over everything. Most users only stick to certain screens or ways to do something. I go beyond that.

So it is not an indication of RM not building the right instructions, but to show the user the many more features that don't pop out at you, shortcuts, and explain how the software really works and the reason why it does that. This is turn gives the user a better feel of how to fully use the unit to its fullest and really use it as tool in trip planning.

For example, at GATS I went over Quick Planner to an O/O. It is there, but they really never understood the full function of it.

    Thanks,
    Mark

    > I get that YOU are going things like the extras and the goodies, but i was referring more to the general. It seems that there are a lot of Basic questions and basic issues that should be able to either be in the first 3 pages or somewhat self explanatory and yet they are not..
There are some tricks with my 740 i would love to learn and im still playing with it, but there are also some basic things that still drive me nuts in getting them to work right.

OK i got a really weird one on the map directions

I was heading towards 1400 W Market St, Troy, OH 45373 coming from Newark OH
The directions were fine UNTIL i got near Troy then they went WEIRD.
First i wanted me to get off Ex 68 from NB I75 and then take I believe rt 571 out something liek 15 miles, go north and come all the way around.
When all i had to do was go up @ 5 miles and get off ext 73 WHY Would it do that???
Then when i did get off Ex 73 its trying to tell me to turn Right onto Fenner Rd, go do and come all the way around in a huge U-turn, when i can simple make a Left turn into my PU.

Talk about screwed up??? Im pretty sure these roads and routes have been there for several years so why in the heck is the mapping so messed up? We are supposed to trust the maps??
