What do you do if you have the truck in the shop for repairs and the mechanic goes out to test drive it and it throws the elogs on driving? I was logged it and it shows my name on the qualcomm. And as far as I know the driving status can't be changed. What now?

Have safety correct it. Going forward, log out if you're not using the truck.

Any approved elogs will have test drive option under the admin settings. Very easy to do it. Like sublime pointed out, just sign off, it will eliminate all the headaches.

When the truck is in the shop, you log out of qc.

Call your log dept and they can fix it for you

I was taught to log out of e-log when leaving the truck, not just log off duty.

And when you log back in you need to say NO when it asks about any unassigned drive time.

We're in an argument with one of the companies I lease with about this very issue, they claim the driver was driving the truck after it was repaired because the truck was on the road for 45 minutes. The mechanic got permission to drive it that long to find an issue with a sensor (long long story) and my driver got a violation letter in the mail this week about his false log entries. The shop called the company, told them it was the mechanic who drove the truck, the driver was with his family 1100 miles away and still this idiot in safety is insisting my driver was there.

So here is the rub, they won't tell the drivers how to use the system for this situation, or even have a policy for it. The mechanic could care less about logging and they told the driver, my manager and me that they do not mess with the elog systems when test driving the truck because it is local.
