Cargo insurance comes out of the carriers cut. Same as the million $ minimum trucking liability insurance the fmcsa requires.
Ive for 22 years of records to tell me how much it cost to maintain a truck, old and new. If you are happy making jb hunt wages more power to you. I just can't fathom why a person would be content with the scraps the lord of the castle tosses them when three are open seats at the table filled with steak and lobster.
Got an early start this morning. Drove 2 hours and getting unloaded. So todays its another weeks pay by breakfast instead of having to wait till lunch. Gonna do another one so two weeks pay in one single day. Opportunities like this don't happen under some fixed rate buck a mile contact.
How are O/O making a living at $1.00 a mile

Oh and you have to do research and wait for the right truck along with a little luck on an older truck. You also have to take care of issues before they happen or as soon as they appear. That can mitigate some of the expense of an older truck.
And yes guys do good with newer equipment also. But they usually have dedicated customers or have been doing it a long time. I hope to get there.
And also they are not on a walk away lease leased on for a $1 mile. Good luck and hope it works for anybody who tries it. It's a tough road to plow either way I guess.Lepton1, jamespmack, spyder7723 and 2 others Thank this. -
Btw lobster for app, steak for dinner, steak for desert. You can have the cake.
spyder7723, Lepton1 and bulldawg trucker Thank this. -
Well fuel is in for that 2800 mile run and after everything is paid I'll net about $1500 with 5 days in the week left to add to that. Looking at a $2500 net week. Have $1500 in maintenance. Acct and $1500 in escrow which means my extended warranty is paid for plus some. A service isn't due for another month so I should have over $2000 in maintenance acct by then, brakes are good, drive tires are 3/4 tread and steers are new so getting over money needed for tires before they are needed won't be a problem, plus I'm going to increase how much is held out for that since I don't need the extra on My paycheck. Yup it official, I'm going broke here....NOT!!! I do have to admit to cheating however because the truck is our home so the bills I have to pay are small but still I supported 2 boys and a $600 a month house with cable and internet on less than I'm making now, so I could have a home if we wanted. Oh and I saw it mentioned back there that if my truck breaks I'm not earning, well actually I get a loaner or I can do recovery, my choice while my truck is down, sooo, no money loss there. Next -
