If minimum wage had kept up with inflation it would be near $25 per hour.

Your point is very valid, the more education you get, the more you will be paid. Skilled labor refers to craftsman type jobs....electricians, plumber, carpenter, welder, pipe fitter, etc....jobs that have a journeyman level of training. Theses jobs will always out perform driving jobs in terms of pay.

Driving jobs do not have that level of technical skill, and so will not get that level of pay. Plus, craftsman jobs get paid overtime, so their wages after 40 hours work is pretty good.

Basically as a driver, you switch jobs to get a more favorable pay rate, or work hours, or working conditions.
Whereas, craftsman job holders tend to stay with the same employer.

Police take a year of training, and get a commensurate rate of pay for investing in that education.

The best action for a driver that wants to earn more, is to get more education....that will lead to an upward wage spiral.

Slightly off topic but I have a sister in law that lives in a tent in a backyard. Her and her scumbag boyfriend don't want to work. They have been off and on welfare for years. He had a cdl he drive for Werner for 6 months had a couple of accidents with some crap on his dac. He went home and gave up completely. Never bothered to try for a local job. Never bothered to try dump trucks. At this point he probably no longer has a cdl no money to pay for renewal . Sad part they have kids.

Huge difference between myself and him.
Werner and otr was a poor for for me but I never gave up. I don't have bad stuff on my dac report. I don't have accidents or anything else that is bad. I could go otr if I wanted, I don't want to. As I type this I am sitting at a construction site slowly being loaded. I'm getting paid every minute even though I have only driven 10 or so miles, 4+ hours ago. Some days I drive quite a bit more. I get paid the same no matter what.

My sister in law is an entitlement scumbag who thinks society owes her. She has been on and off of welfare for years. She is the type of person that is a real problem, and her scumbag boyfriend.

I guess the latest is there is no functional shower on the property. Gross. I wish someone would call child protective services. They are tent rats.

Some truckers get overtime, I am one such individual. Overtime on regular pay is $24 per hour, if it's rate overtime $31 per which is fantastic.

You're right about the quarter pounder, but the coke would still cost exactly what it does now. No chance they risk losing the drink sales by raising the price that high. Drink margins are what keep restaurants afloat.

Disgusting. It's hard being around them knowing they are stealing from the taxpayer whenever they can. I wish I could open my mouth cause I'm tired of bitting my tounge. I feel bad for the kids, what are they being taught.

My son watches his dad and mom both go to work. He will grow up to be a better person.
