They do have the money for the extra wages, but they're spending it on new hires instead via sign on bonuses.. it varies from terminal to terminal, but chicago is at the top with a 15,000 sign on bonus.

That, plus their apparent policy against CB 's makes them one I wouldn't particularly recommend.

    Yeah Mack,

We now have a terminal opening up in Baltimore next week. Than in about 4 weeks we have another one opening up on the NE extension in PA. can't release where until corporate does, but it is going to be in a really good location up there....

Right now Saia is looking to open 1 terminal each 2-4 months until the northeast is locked in. I just got back from the driver trainer course in PA that they hosted and flew the drivers in not from the NE region. It was nice.

Saia has big plans in the future. The stock already has jumped from $34 a share up to about 58 in less than a year. Big money and we just got a pay raise for the 3rd year in a row due to the profits we made from the NE expansion. For instance, Philadelphia terminal (actually in NJ) almost doubled the projected outbound bill count daily and had to expand quickly to accommodate.

No bluetooth or CBs with cameras facing you is absolutely ridiculous!

You're gonna be gone from yuour family for long periods and you can't even talk to them.
    Lot better options out there.

A Lot of new lnehaul guys at Saia have to run "the system" and are out for days.
Not to mention when driving in the middle of the night talking on the phone helps alleviate mental fatigue.

There are many other LTLs that pay just as well or better that aren't as ridiculous.

From what I've seen the senior Saia drivers hate their company more than the YRC guys who lost wages/retirement do and I think that really says something
