Is it realistic to get 3 cpm with a lightweight? If so, would make it 50 cpm. 47 to begin with. Interesting???

I think 1cpm is realistic with fuel prices as low as they are now and if your getting around 8-8.5mpg. But I'm not sure what kind of fuel mileage the LW trucks are getting. I've heard they are the same and some say they are worse than a full size truck.

I'm in the flatbed division though and don't meet many drivers in the reefer division or with LW.

I find the fuel mileage worse in a lightweight. It wasn't hard to get 10mpg in a condo but the stars have to align to sniff that in my lw.

Are you FB as company or lease? If company do you get the miles to average in the $1k/week range?

    Assuming you don't mind answering.

    Company driver and yes.

Although, I think you'd make more money in a lw pulling reefer.

If you’re in refer division, can you choose a condo or is LW a requirement?

As company you can choose a condo,, but you get .05/mile less.

@skellr, how many miles do you average a week? Do you do a lot of sitting and waiting?

Yes, but the bonus isnt cut and dry like they show on Prime's website. The bonus changes each week based on the cost of fuel. I only stayed company a short time, my 1st week I was in top 10 for my fleet on fuel economy.. The bonus ended up being less than $100.

Considering my entire time as company 90% of my loads were over 42k lbs, I stopped worrying about fuel mpg and just got to the reciever as fast as possible. Better chance of making more by getting a exta load in a week vs going slow to make a few extra pennies but Id still usally end up with a small fuel bonus.

If you get lighter loads the fuel bonus might work out or maybe if you are on a dedicated route, but being max weight most of the time, throw in some hills and you arent getting good mpg no matter how slow you go.
