Would Warren Buffet spend all that money buying the Pilot if there would be no drivers?

    Yup.

More work for the rest of us.

I've got 3million potential miles left to earn before I'm eligible for SS.

and if today is any indication? I'll do a 3rd of that and still make money.

All I hear are sales pitches off the truck moving forward. Not a single article I've read or a forum that I've been been can address when the truck arrives at a shipper or receiver. How will that truck know what gate to go in. How about a strip mall. How about a shopping center, chemical plant, construction site. Billy jobs house in magnolia Texas, so you can load yellow grease.
Flatbeds have to continuoulsy check their straps, after securing and/or harping their loads.
Tankers, unloading and loading the product. Checking tires. Making sure the operator sealed the dome. Making sure the tank wash guy actually washed the tank and hoses. Making sure he washed the external valves and put it back together right.

They do realize that we go in reverse to right?

He's impressed with their profit margin on expired Twinkies

That's what the 8" pipe is for.
Sheesh, you have to explain basic exhaust functions to rookies.

No doubt he took the autonomous vehicle into consideration prior to that purchase. Curious as to what his reasoning was in regards to that thought, he might have figured role for truck stops to play working with or supporting autonomous vehicles?

I understand your skynet reference. Im thinking more along the lines of the original Tron movie. Rebellious non compliant escapees from MC's dragnet scratching out a living with what leaking power there is to find...

Switzerland already had a vote that would have applied taxation to Robots as if they were citizens providing a basic income from cradle to grave. Work literally encouraged as a way to make life worth living doing something you like.

Now I luv trucking and heavy equiptment and and and. But if I got replaced by robots oh well. Over my dead body. *(*^% Some of the work is actually FUN darn it. *Pounds lunch counter....

There are threads hither thither and yon where we enjoyed trashing the robot trucks in engineering snafus and ranged from a failed curb crossing due to overexcessive anti collision combined with lane warning etc... conflicting itself... all the way to horrible staged terrorist attacks causing the computer propane tanker to enter a predetermined act that wiped out a town using a handful of vehicles.

I'll continue to take joy in picking on the ottos. With that said, I do marvel at the possibilites but as long billy bob and blondhair gets to run about on a basic car license around these poor ottos the way they mess with trucks today in rush hour traffic the whole thing must be viewed as a immense failure.

I believe that during the 60K can delivery over 110 miles or whatever, there was a human that drove the truck from the actual dock to the curbside lane of the street roadway protected by the Law until he pushed a button releasing the Otto to go run this route which has been scanned and mapped to millimeter tolerances. Now I don't know about you but that pavement on the interstate must be beaten down by now all these years with the grooves, bad paint and onery cars herded by the state police escort.

I am a dinosaur. Frankly millenials don't want me barking yapping and #####ing about the fancy new technology set to take over the Industry in entirety. Ive already had a taste of that in 2009 at the auction house when cars covered in warning stickers that decide if I can rev the engine or not... Or get stuck in the slightest of inclines and spin one of the wheels of the fearsome decaled all wheel drive advertised hooey and glorious POS in the snow.

And you wonder why I exhibit a mental health related diagnoses somewhere in the V Version of the current diagnoses used by shrinks when I hang on to a vehicle that is so old it barely had any technology at all. /snark.

This has been a lunch counter post. If you are sensitive please don't waste my time. LOL.. he he he.
