Gulfport, should be plenty of trucking jobs in the area. I would call around to some of those outfits in your area before you quit, see if there are any opportunities for you there.

Steel Dragon and Jfairley00 Thank this.

I did it for years, hate it. Now if I have to drive 100 miles I'm grumbling. LOL!

I don't see how you can wake you everyday for yrs and force yourself to do something that you hate.

some people may hate it, yes. but the money is good and supporting a family is important, and catching up with many bills. once these are taken care of? then many move on.

Steel Dragon and Justrucking2 Thank this.

Trucking used to be fun, and I enjoyed it. But after the immigrant wave from Mexico and other parts, the lack of proper training and few with any old school etiquette left out here, it lost its luster rather quickly. Now, I just putz around locally hauling auto parts from various suppliers to various manufacturers. I rarely go much farther than 150 miles from the house.

Unfortunately insurance rates are high for new drivers you'll be stuck at a mega, that being said, feel free to hop around until you find a decent dispatcher.
Truck driver shortage gives you plenty of options if you have a clean driving record..don't hit stuff...you'll be fine.
