So I was coming up 95 out of Florida last night and about 100 miles south of Manning SC my alternator belt decided to shred into a million pieces.
So sitting on the side of the road at midnight I located a new belt 100 miles north at the TA in manning SC.
Now all I needed to do is figure out how to drive up there with no charging system and all my lights on.
This is what I can up with..
I got out my long heavy duty jumper cables and hooked them up to the mini van on the front of my trailer and ran them to the batteries on the freightliner and then started the mini van and drove 100 miles north with my remote charging system and got my new belt.
Worked like a charm lol

You work with what you have on hand to make it work. Sometimes you have to think outside the box to get it done. Well done, my man.
Spot decisions & critical decision situations are the hardest things to impress upon newbies, in my experience.
Again, well done. Got the job done. What it's all about.
Hulld Thanks this. -
I have one of the smaller jump box. I wonder if this would have gotten you there. What you did was great thinking! Just curious if this would have done it.

I thouggt you were going to say that you took one of your cars to go get it

It was at night and I was running all my lights and my engine is a full electronic Detroit.....
But on another note the little mini van that could was able to keep my charge gauge at 13.8 volts with every thing on running down the road.
I officially take back every derogatory insult that I have ever givin a mini van lolmbolton1990, bigred81 and BigBob410 Thank this. -
Good thing you drove the minivan in. Great thinking saved you $$. I was in a similar situation once before i started hauling cars. My alternator siezed and broke the belt. This happened in upsate ny in the hills. Called ta for road service. Cost me about $1200 after it was all done. They charged me for everything they could e.g Mileage, time etc
Hulld Thanks this. -
Way adapt, overcome! Says Gunny Highway! Lol
Years ago guy next to me thought his batteries were dead, I looked at them and noticed the cable leading to his startef was rotted out. Cut some sheath to find good cable and used a jumper cable to get him started so he could get down the road a few miles to a shop. -
Super idea!
