Hi Yeti, welcome aboard. We need more info. What you plan to do because different trucking requires different spec'd trucks.

Sure, Right now it's hauling oil or sand in the oilfields of Tex and Ok but later I might pull an enddump or belly dump.

Ok, well nothing fancy, obviously, I think a good starter truck would be a Freightliner with no less than 500 hp. Dime a dozen. Volvo's are cheap, but I think a Freightliner is a better truck. Detroits are great motors, some go over a million miles and never pulled apart. I'm not familiar with the demands of what that job involves, but the toughest truck is no doubt a Mack, but those aren't cheap. And if you go with an older road truck, the gearing will no doubt be in the low 3's ( 3:25, 3:55) and you may want a lower gear set, like 4:11. It will save your clutches, and you probably won't do a lot of interstate travel. Good luck.

Oil fields will tear up some equipment, my advise would be find you a solid and sturdy truck over a shiny show truck!

Doesn't have to be anything fancy just reliable. What are some of the things you guys look for when purchasing a used truck. And how much would you spend on one with a sleeper

I work in the oil fields in Alberta Canada. Western Star has always been the sturdiest truck. That has been my experience and of course personal opinion.
