Sorry for the delay in getting an update out BUT I have been busy and have had a health scare as well. I will leave that off here just know I am OK.

I left off when I was going to Whitestown, IN. What a mess that ended up being. I got there for my 3 AM appointment BUT the facility did not open until 6 AM .. I was livid. There is a Love's literally right around the corner from where I delivered to, I was parked there and when I pulled out my spot was gone almost immediately. Facility does not allow overnight parking ... luckily I found a hole at a small truck stop at the next exit. So I go back to sleep until just before 6 AM and roll to the facility again .... this time the load does not exist! There is no record of my load anywhere on their schedule. There was another Schugel truck there with the same exact load too .... so we think we were double booked. I sit there most of the day while Schugel and GNC decide what they were going to do. They ended up taking the product.

From there I went to Napoleon, Ohio and picked up a pre-loaded trailer from Campbell Soup and took it up to Tomah, Wisconsin to WalMart .. it was a load of V-8 Juice. From there I picked up a pre-loaded trailer at Abbyland Packing in Abbotsford, Wisconsin and took it to ConAgra/Americold in Manchester, PA. From there I was supposed to pick up in Baltimore, Maryland and head to Atlanta but that load was not ready. I got routed up to Jersey City, New Jersey to pick up from a place called Well Luck and took a load of Chinese Food from their facility there to their facility in Atlanta, Georgia. I then picked up a load of Dunkin Donut donut glaze from CSM Bakery in Tucker, Georgia and delivered it to Dunkin Donuts in Groveland, Florida this past Friday.

What an ordeal at Dunkin! I had pails of glaze AND they shifted! CSM put airbags between the pallets but 3 of the bags failed and 6 out of 20 pallets shifted. Schugel does not like us touching freight .... an injured driver is of no use to them. Luckily Dunkin Donuts has a lumper they like to use so I give him a call and he came and fixed it up.

I am now on my final night of home time, will be heading out somewhere tomorrow ( hopefully ).

I have been thinking long and hard about my future. The truth is reefer and dry van sucks ###. I am 100% dedicated to J&R Schugel and I have no complaints about them as a company or with their equipment ... just the freight they haul sucks.

I have been on the lookout for a tanker or flatbed company that will give me a chance with so little experience as I have only been on the road since the end of July. We will see how it goes over the next few weeks and if I can not find anyone willing to take a chance on me I will stick it out to get that coveted 1 year experience.

Still following you since your PTECH thread. I will be starting school in a few more weeks and my plan is to go flatbed or tanker from the start for the same reasons you have. Good luck on finding something better. Hopefully soon.

Have you decided on a school yet? If not, I would highly recommend Pinellas Technical College, two great ladies that run that program.

With your limited experience more than likely you would be required to go out with a trainer again even if it was another van company. Not trying to discourage you just do your research so you know exactly what you would have to do. Pulling a reefer is challenging! Your sleep schedule can be hectic and not everyone can adjust. I'm not sure if that's a problem for you it seems it's one of the biggest complaints for reefer drivers along with excessive wait times. Good luck to you!

I am not going to jump ship tomorrow. I am not planning anything until after the first of the year, that will give me about 6 months experience atleast.

Welcome to the Sweat Box. I am here in Tifton, Georgia where the temperature reached almost 85 degrees today, with the sun beating down on a truck that will not idle and a/c is busted it is pretty warm in here. I have the fan going but that is just moving the hot air around. Luckily the temperature is expected to drop when the sun sets ...... wish that son of a ##### would hurry up.

My APU decided it wanted to quit working at some point last night. I woke up to a red triangle and the ACS illuminated on my console. Unfortunately I can not get into a Thermo King until the morning, I am out of hours.
