I agree with you however, I have had the ongard system activate my breaks twice in the summer time due to morning sun reflecting off the car in front of me while city driving. Without Cruse control in use.

It’s a lot easier just to put a piece of cardboard in front of the camera that is mounted on your windshield.

 

Tell the company you were parked somewhere and one night someone broke into your truck and tried to steal your load. You fought like hell to protect the customers property, even at the risk of your own life. In the ensuing melee the unit was damaged by the would be thief on the way out of the cab.

 

I have driven a Freightliner with the DD 15 DT 12 combination with the OnGard system. I can attest to what he is saying is the truth. That thing will lock up your breaks even when not on cruise control and when you least expect it. It did not do it very often or for very long at each time but I always wonder what would’ve happened if it done that with slick road conditions. Fortunately I found out that usually when it snows the front radar will malfunction and the system will not work at all. If I choose to buy a new Freightliner it will not have the OnGard system installed And if I buy a used one I will disable it.
