.I live in Dallas but it seems like there aren't any good local or dedicated routes out this metro unless you go tanker

Tanker, i recently swithed to it from van, requires more careful driving. Loads are heavy, where van loads vary from very light to heavy. My tanker is filled until I'm just under 80k. Loading or unloading CAN be anything from customer does everything to you do evetything while wearing a "sauna suit" in the blazing hot weather. It really depends if the tanker job is dedicated, hazmat, food-grade, or something else. It can pay VERY well to it pays less than Swift. Home everyday to out for weeks. Every customer is different, but at least they are glad you arrived. In dry van every customer serms mad you showed up.

Dry van or tanker? TANKER...better pay, better class of shippers and customers to deal with, better opportunity for regional or local, better in every way.

Well, milk tanker --- I made $45K. CO2 tanker --- I made as O/O $187K, or $72K net. Dry Van --- I am making $65K+ without the O/O hassles and stresses of all maintenance, tires, break downs, etc. It's really what YOU make of it, and your attitude out here. Just because a shipper or consignee gives you a hard time doesn't mean you have to reciprocate! "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"... right? So don't let your heart be troubled... just do the best you can do and be the best you can be, and you'll do OK! :)
