Not sure sure yet, but after reading some of these reports on Werner I have little doubt my truck driving career has been cut short by their vindictive and lying low-level management crew. First home time after going solo my Fleet Manager called on my third day off and left a message on voicemail accusing me of idling my truck while at home and threatened to document it in my file.

Calling back I told him I didn't know how he was getting his information, I hadn't touched it since I parked it 2 days ago. He stated that since calling me he had talked to several other FM's who told him 'there's something going on with the system, several other drivers on home time and the system indicated their trucks were idling too'. But no apology for the threatening phone call.

Came off home time and hop-scotched my way over to Ohio from Oregon, a couple swaps, a couple splits, eventually ending up in Maine, NY and NJ for about 10 days. On those 10 days I sat waiting for a load at least 3 days. During one of these no load days I called 'Placements' requesting a transfer to Western Region, if there were openings. Nice Lady indicated there were openings and asked where I was, I stated 'NJ that's why I'm making the request.' She told me to call back when I get to Nebraska.

I stayed out 6 weeks eventually getting home three days later than when I made the request 6 weeks prior. Quallcomm message sent stating I was taking 7 days off. Another voicemail from 'The Fleet Manager From Hell', he told me I was not getting 7 days, I had not earned it and if I did not call back he would have the truck towed. I called him, the 1st time he put me on hold, I gave up after waiting 15 minutes, 2nd attempt at calling, on hold 5 minutes before hanging up.

Sent quallcomm msg, I had dental appt. on day 6, also requested he not make anymore threatening calls he's interrupting my time with my family. I also made call to Placements and asked if the Fleet Manager could stop my Transfer, she stated 'no I been working here for 10 years and I've never seen that happen.' She also told me transfer was all set, the nice lady I spoke to first had set it up and all I needed to do was call when I came off home time.

Again Fleet Manager from hell called, this guy was like Jason thick-headed and kept coming back. This time he said if I did not call him this day he would accept that as my resignation. So I, thinking yeh right, you also said you were going to tow the truck and it's still sitting out front. Same day I made a call to Placement and stated I was coming off home time tomorrow, I would like the transfer made.

Not so nice lady said 'call tomorrow the day you make yourself available, they will do it then'. Next day came and I called Placements. I was told 'your file states you voluntarily quit you need to talk to FM (aka Jason) or Recruiting'. Could not figure why this guy (FM) was making a big deal over this, after all, I spent 6 weeks out (twice the time normally out) and I was not going back to his board, he must be control freak.

At this point I had enough, made call to Jason the control freak (FM), told him,'I will drive truck to Portland and turn it in' he stated 'that's fine'. Cleaned it out that day and was going to drive it up the next morning when my wife could follow me and give me a ride home, I knew Werner would not. Phone rings about 8am, guy on other end asked if this was the ExWerner driver with the company truck. I said yes it is why? He was told to tow it to Portland.

I told him Werner was getting a little #####y, also said I will drive it up because if he tows it, Werner will put it on my DAC I had abandoned it, he said one word,'correct'. Well, tried starting it and guess what 'dead battery' it had dead battery when they assigned it to me, and again after my first home time. Called Tow Trk guy, told him it had dead battery, he called Portland. They were going to let me drive it up, but since it had a dead battery, they told him to tow it. He showed as I waited by the truck, gave him the keys, he hooked it up and left. I knew this was going to haunt me.

I have since filled out an application for another carrier, much smaller than Werner, no accidents, no tickets, no felony convictions every thing looks good, so they said. Starting orientation on Monday they will call me on Friday. Friday came no call, I called twice and left msgs for the recruiter, still no call. I figure it's in the DAC, something Werner wrote. I will request a copy of DAC and see for myself. Moral of story is never believe what any company reps tell you, they all lie. especially Werner! Time will tell, maybe Jason unwittingly did me a favor!

Werner policy is 1 per 7; for 6 weeks out it would be 6 days. My FM has allowed me to stay off more then I 'should' but only after I have done something along the lines of 5 wks out 2 days home 3 wks out 4 days home.

In reality what I see here is that it is both of your faults. The FM, regardless of your personal taste, is your boss. I haven't liked a large number of my bosses, and that doesn't give me the right to refuse to do what they ask. That is asking to be fired.

As far as I can tell your boss said to you to call as you were taking an extra day off that he did not authorize, and if you didn't call you would be VQ. You failed to call, thusly you said to him you didn't care. Now you are whining because he followed through?

I've had to wait more then 15 minutes for my FM on the phone before, it is simply because they have 60-70 trucks per board. You are hardly the only one calling. You have to be patient. Had you learn patience you would still be employed.

You don't have to 'respect' your boss, but you do have to listen to them.

Too bad you had to learn the hard way what a crappy outfit Werner is. Hope your story keeps another good person from getting hosed by these maggots. Hang in there . You will get on with a good company in time.:yes2557:

Wow, IROCBabe what Werner desk have you been under? No whining, just stating the facts! Don't need lessons on respecting my 'boss'. Fact is I didn't respect him, he is just another individual trying to do a job by threats and intimidation to make up for his lack of ability. Also, FM is NOT your 'boss' just another dispatcher. If he was my 'bossman' he would of fired me, not just VQing me, what a joke. By the way, educated people refer to it as a 'supervisor' and your reply reminds me of my ex, she thinks she has all the answers also. FYI, I could call Werner Monday and be back driving by Friday but unlike some of you, I choose to stay off my knees. I've seen enough, and your reply reinforces my thoughts, Werner is for the losers who can't get job anywhere else! Get out from under that desk and see the light.

As an Ex-Werner employee it really pains me to take their side on anything, but it would have been a lot better if you had someone meet you at their terminal and turn the truck in there. By doing it the way you did it cost them an expensive tow job and that is why they trashed your DAC. I am not trying to criticize you but this would have had better outcome if you had delivered their truck to their terminal.

You show that IROCUBabe is right by your response. Amazing that there are thousands of Werner drivers who have driven for them for years. Get over it. Your actions were wrong and THAT is what got you fired. Mature people and educated people would understand that.

I do not appreciate the insinuations you are presenting in this post, I hope I read it wrong but how dare you even infer what you KNOW you are infering. You sir are displaying an inbred mentality. You cannot carry on a conversation with a female without using that fact against her or veiled insults heh. Just shows I am the bigger man.

You remind me of my ex, a lazy self righteous #####. Congrats to your ex she is better off with out you!

Maybe cool-eye got the message that his kind of attitude is not needed or wanted here since he has come on and failed to post again. From the male side of the issue I get disgusted when I hear male drivers treat or talk about women drivers the way they do. A real man treats women with respect and acknowledges their value to and equality in society rather than make the insinautions that cool-eye posted here and the crude comments that are so prevalent on the CB whenever a women driver speaks up. I appreciate your work in the industry, IROCUBabe, and know it must be frustrating to be treated to the kind of comments that cool-eye made. If he is a real man, he will come on here and publicly apologize to you for his public comments.

You go IROCUbabe!!! Cool-eye has a definite problem. My BF has been with Werner for 12 years. He's had his problems, sure...but you have them no matter where you work and no matter who you work for.
