But that is because they have small bodies. It does not take as much pressure to overcome the mass and gravity.
What is the BP for a fetus in the womb? My guess would be, a lot lower.
When considering an adult, the range should only include that of adults.

Yep barely got my medical card because of it..Blood pressure is specific to some people. My 3rd generation EMT buddy has high bp as also i do. He is 53 as i am, both very healthy he did triathlons up to 5 years ago.
His take on it is some people have higher natural BP than others out there.Truckermania and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
Does the DOT, specifically SWIFT TRANS, have a policy for resting heart rate? I know for BP its 140/90 and needs to be lower. What about RESTING HEART RATE?
-
Your heart rate is noted at the time your bp is taken. But your question of a 'resting heart rate' would not apply unless you have had a resting period. That has not been done at any physical I have ever taken by anyone.
If it means a heart rate that is 'normal' when you are not exerting yourself, it would be within 50-100 BPM.
Why are you so worried about your heart rate? And why Swift.
At any rate, I don't know of anything with Swift that cares about that.
I've been with Swift for over 7 years, and have never heard of anything to do with heart rate. -
It’s going to become like aviation sooner than later ... as an example commercial pilots over the age of 40 must go every 6 months and that includes and EKG
From Wiki :
Class 1 medical certificates are required for airline transport pilots who fly scheduled airliners. These are the most complex examinations and include electrocardiograms (EKGs). EKGs are required at the first Class 1 medical after the applicant turns 35 and then the first medical after age 40 and yearly thereafter. Class 1 certificates are good for airliner duties for 1 year for applicants under age 40 and 6 months for those 40 and over. -
So here is the question I have. The DOT physical is SUPPOSED to be a physical that makes sure your in good enough physical shape to operate the CMV. It ISNT supposed to be to see if you are a healthy human specimen and to be used for a means to require you to be physically fit. So, can you safely operate a CMV if your blood pressure is 145/95? Can you safely operate a CMV if your blood sugar is 155? Can you safely operate a CMV if you are 100 lbs overweight? Yes you can. These regulations were put into place by the FMCSA under the Obama administration in another abuse of govt. power by them. The whole DOT physical has changed from what its intended purpose is, to an extension tool of Obamacare.
All regulations on the DOY physical need to be repealed and of most importance, your family doctor needs to be the one who decides if you meet the requirements of the DOT physical, not some chain clinic that lobbied Obamas regulatory czar to require burdensome paperwork upon the doctor causing your family physician to opt out of the process, so the chain clinics could take over industrial health. -
28 Thanks this.

Im out of touch. The FAA did make some changes in 2008. I agree with these changes too.

About the only thing that changed was that the doctor had to be certified and not a quack.
