The crane company I worked for did a lot of OS/OD but never anything that big. We did a bunch of work on some really sketchy roads. A fun job for sure and at the end if the day you knew you did work!
Where's the money?

I laughed pretty hard at 'I heard commodity hauling paid much better than oversize'. I've never heard that ever, and for very good reason. The exact opposite is true. O/D guys are basically the best paid truckers out there. There may be some people who haul weird hazmat that do better, but I don't know anything at all about that.
It's also much riskier and much harder. There's a huge difference between having a claim ruin 10k of produce and ramming something large, solid, and expensive into the bottom of a bridge. That second claim can easily be for more than a million dollars.Steel Dragon and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
It's kind of hard to beat $96,000 to run an oversize load during daylight hours from Galveston Texas to Bridgeport West Virginia plus $1,000 per day detention while the customer figures out how to get the heavy load up the side of the mountain.
