and here I was feeling bad 'cuz mine is at .92! should reset to zero Monday, though.

Though I don't get the check engine lite for overspeed. I only get it if something is seriously wrong. Like, maybe, it's 99 degrees F outside and I'm driving at 60 (well, 60 on the cruise - more like 55 in real-world talk) with <gasp> the A/C on!

lurchgs the check engine light comes on in the freighliners and the newer petes I know because I was often going over governor down hills.

I think when I first got my truck and got to layton from brooks I started rolling from layton to payette I would save time keeping it floored while going down the smaller hills and some of the bigger ones providing that ther were not any turns comming up. My overspeed was almost 3.5 I think durring that week.
I had problems with my turbo so I took the truck into the shop they hooked it up and the guys in the layton shop told me to slow down and not take the truck out of gear going down the hills or pushing in the clutch.
I told them I was not that stupid I was only keeping it floored to gain that kind of speed.
Your over speed only starts at I belive 72mph but may have changed since they cut the speed back to 60.

When you see a sign that says "right lane closed ahead" or "left lane closed ahead", get into the correct lane and don't wait until you have two feet of road left and then cut off the trucker to get in. We had this happen continuously and then the car driver gets pissed off at the trucker because he or she won't let him in. I hate it when people do that to me in my Blazer. But to do it to an 18 wheeler is just asking for trouble.

I am just flabbergasted by this (and if you've seen my thread on trucks tailgating cars, you'll understand more) Cars tailgating trucks so they can get pulled along by the ... what?? The draft coming off the truck? sorry, I've never head of this - what's WRONG with people?

I guess some drivers think they're invincible and if they get away with something time and again, they'll feel as though nothing can touch them.

My 13 year-old saw this on Mythbusters! There was even an article in some women's magazine about the topic of 'drafting' semis to cut your gas usage. Yes, cars tailgate big trucks on a regular basis. I have seen this myself.

There are some truck drivers out there that have no business behind the wheel of a big truck. From the behavior I see from 4-wheelers, there are plenty of people that have not business behind the wheel of a car either. I have watched cars cut trucks off, lane change in front of a truck too close and then hit their brakes, try passing a truck on the right while that truck is trying to make a right turn, and plenty of other behavior that makes me wonder how there are not more accidents. Take an honest look at the behavior of all drivers on the road sometime. I no longer drive truck, and I have this kind of garbage done around me in my 4-wheeler. I see a lot more truck drivers with good road manners than I do 4-wheelers.

What would I want them to know? It's mostly the 4-wheeler that's in danger when he does something stupid.

Notice how damaged the trailer is, versus the pick-up truck.

I think for me the biggest thing would be for 4wheelers is to allow and pay attention to when a truck needs to turn right; if he has a long trailer then most times he is gonna have to swing wide and take up some of the lane on the left side of him to make that right turn, also when we are making right turns, not to try and drive t your car on the right side of us and try to pass us while we are in the middle of a right turn; between us and the sidewalk; this is just an accident waiting to happen all because of the 4wheelers fault of not paying attention to what's going on.

My second biggest thing is why do most 4wheelers stop or slow down when they see an accident or someone pulled over by a cop? Why don't they just stay out of it (it's none of thier business who it is or why this happened)? They seem to think they'll see blood or someone getting arrested or if they know the person. With this in mind; please just keep driving and alot of these back ups wouldn't happen.

That I can't stand is the rubber neckers, they just want to see the violence and slow down and cause other accidents thats on my top list of lists, and 4 wheelers should slow down approaching a red light and seeing a truck make a right, you know hes going to probably need room, do you need to Go 1 foot past the #### white line?

I think drivers sometimes feel, like, OK, I'm pulling out now so you just DEAL WITH IT. I've always been amazed at the guts - insanity - BOTH of drivers who switch lanes within inches of another car, let alone a truck. Even if it's just for a few minutes - a few seconds - people don't want to be stopped. They're all very important, you know - have to be somewhere in a hurry.
