The Werner empty I picked up to some local work today while I was waiting for my normal reload at General mills in Roanoke, TX ended up being a bigger POS than I initially thought. When I tried to pick up at Georgia Pacific in Garland, their forklift punched a hole in the floor boards. It was a 1999 so its been well used. GP refused to load it and my dispatcher said to just take it to Werner since nobody will want to touch it with a hole in the floor.

The Werner people seemed really nice. It wasn't what I expected though I can't explain exactly what I was expecting to begin with. I explained the situation to the shop manager who was cool about it and said to drop it and they would lock it up. As I was dropping it, a Werner driver walked up and asked if it was empty. I told him it was but it had a bad floor and they. were going to put it OOS. He seemed dissapointed, I guess Werner is having a trailer shortage.

But not a new tractor one. They have a ton of brand new Petes on the yard with plastic on the seats, waiting to be stickered. They had them parked everywhere.

I work for Werner often get sent on wild goose chases looking for empties. The vast majority of which are filthy inside and require a sweep out. There have been many trailers with holes in the tires and tires unseated from the rim as well as electrical isssues. I don’t blame the drivers for dumping bad trailers without red tagging them or reporting issues to dispatch as the breakdown pay is paltry and you lose mucho dinero shagging this mt to a repair center. To Werner’s credit the majority of their trailers are mechanically sound.

And this is an over 6 year old thread. However, I'm sure packrat appreciates the bump...from whatever prison he calls home.
