I am new to the trucking industry and currently drive for a company, I am interested in buying my own truck, am a fool to do so as I feel expenses will beat me or is being a owner driver a good thing ?

Dear Skewy
As an owner Driver my self I will give you some hard advise, there is some money to be made however if you are a glory driver and only want the biggest and the best you will go broke so don't do it. Find a truck that is older but well maintained, buy off an owner driver retiring if you can do not trust used truck yards they'll send you broke. Decide what type of cargo you want to get into and look for the suitable equipment. Here is the hard part you have to have a leap of faith, Buy the equipment before you get the work. No one will promise you work if you buy a truck but if you call into yards a show them what you got you will get a strike faster than you think. Now time to think, an old transport owner once told me the secret of making a small fortune out of your truck and I'll share with you now, You have to start with a bloody big one
Best of luckAnother Canadian driver and LoudOne Thank this. -
