I’ve been with Maverick just over a year now, first 6 months as a US division flatbedder, then they offered me a Home Depot dedicated account that got me home every weekend. Today the training office called me and asked me if I ever thought about becoming a trainer.
I was surprised, but they said I’ve done better than most my first year and outlined they extra pay, then asked if I’d be interested. I thought about it for a second and said sure. (I know, lots of thought). I’m scheduled to head to North Little Rock early January. Not sure if I’ll love the extra body in my (soon to be new) but I’m always game to try something new. Plusthe extra money will be nice, and if it I hate it I can always go back.
Looks like I’m gonna be a trainer.

I did the training thing for 1 year. It was good money. I did not like running as team. It's definitely an adventure, one student had a fear of driving over bridges. Another guy, out of the blue started singing religious song. This was before we even had satellite radio.
The pay was good, two drivers in the same truck is ok. Plus today we have satellite radio or podcast and YouTube and GPS. I still remember student waking me up because I-80 ended. When I went to sleep we had 2,300 miles to go on I-80 and 4-5 hour later he said we were at the endTrucker Paul and Doublewiggle32 Thank this. -
I was under the impression that maverick doesn't allow trainers to be in the bunk when a trainee is driving.

I did not work for Maverick. I was pulling a refeer. If you don't have to run tram it's probably a lot better.

Good luck! Either it will be great, or it won't. The fleet managers on the trainer trucks are outstanding. You never know if training will "click" with you.
