It sounds to me like stories like that are just all too common. I read a book on my kindle by a seasoned trucker explaining all the ends and outs of the industry.. and he had a special section for NYC and Manhattan. His first trip there, actually one of his first trips ever (his dispatcher wasn't very bright), was to NYC. He ended up stuck on a parkway that he couldn't fit through. Had to have the highway to his right across a field shut down so he can get on it. To get to it he had to drive across a frozen field, picking up speed the whole way so that he had enough speed to fly up a hill at the end where the highway was.

At least some companies now are tipping you extra for going out there. Still probably not worth it, but at least its some compensation.

The east west streets in that area are mostly one ways and wide .
Chances are its a jobsite and will be a street unload ...and the contractor will have an area coned off to unload .
Call the contracter before you get there to get the scoop .
I've done cabinet and store fixture loads all over the NYC metro and never had a problem ...the secret is call the contractor before you get there !
If this is an Armstrong cabinet load you should have a contact number with a name .
Don't let these sissies scare ya ..pm me if ya need more help.

Thanks for all the replies. Sorry I'm just catching up.
yeah I saw that. I was using google street view to run the route and saw that park ave is passenger cars only.

You're right! It's now called ACPI but yup, got cabinets. The issue I always run into is that either the phone number isn't correct, the address isn't correct or no one answers. So we are basically on our own. I delivered for Armstrong years ago. I was just never in this part of NYC.
