Is your boost within spec? When my 2ws started getting tired it started running hot on the pyro and rolling coal. I put a small valve on the wastegate and adjusted it to run about 36lbs iirc. It cleared up the smoke and ran for another 5 or so years like that. We thought maybe it was erosion of the turbo on the hot side so it wasn't boosting as much as it should or the engine loosing compression and causing the same issue. Good luck with whatever you do.

    Peterbiltt and Oxbow Thank this.

Cant say about the boost since the truck has 18 gauges or something but only gauge it is missing is the boost gauge lol. We couldnt get the stage 1 turbo here until monday or something which is o sadly just bought a borg warner wastegate one for 2200. Currently they tested the CAC which was put last year thats good and the turbo has no play either. Truck has had a problem since buying it in 2007, it will first loose speed on the smallest hills and then pull up the hill

I bought a 80mm cover and wheel for the 475 but it wont fit as the housing wont let the 80mm wheel seat all the way down in. Im wondering if i can have it machined to fir the bigger wheel?

A good turbo shop would be able to machine the backing plate pocket to fit the 80mm wheel. Then balance it.

Stock compressor wheel in your stock 2ws turbo is 75mm.

Ive ran a 82mm on my 2ws and it made great power with cool egts but had to really watch it coming off the fuel hard. It would bark or surge thru the air cleaners bad. I took it off and just put the normal 78mm Borg on. Much better.

Here where I live sometimes you have to shift fast in the hills and i did not want to explode or snap the shaft in that 82.
