Heck, May Trucking made me a "trainer" after 6 mos back in '09 LOL. Did it on and off for about a year and a half.

It's very challenging having someone in your space all the time. Some dudes had real idiosyncrasies too.

Their are lots of little things trainers have to deal with. Not everyone know how to wash clothes or they wear the same clothes more then what you normally do. I had student who always had shoes on 24/7 even in bed. I was never a clean freak but when they step on your bed with their shoes it a little annoying when you know how the truck stop parking lots are.

So finally asked how come he never takes shoes off. It was because his feet smelled. I had foot powder for shoes to fix that problem. He said that stuff won't work, I said let try and see. It worked ! That's kinda stuff you deal with as trainer.

You need to have laundry detergent the students can use. I had a student piss himself while driving. I was like you know you can stop at any truck stop or rest are. You can pull over to off ramp if that's the only option vs pissing in the driver's seat. You can even piss in a bottle if needed I don't care but not stopping and pissing in the driver seat is a little to much even for me.

I think a lots guys were just trying out the job as truck driver because is seemed like a fun thing to try. Like I don't have plans for the next 2 months let's go try truck driving.

Can't blame him for that. I'd probably do that too. I'd feel a duty to not inflict any odors I might have on anyone else if at all possible, besides the occasional smoke that is.

Speaking of foot odor, I have a funny little story.

About 7 years ago me , my 80 year old dad and my sister and her husband and 3 kids all rented a 2 bedroom condo on the beach for 2 weeks in Maui over Christmas.

My 1 st time out there, I am getting to live my Florida beach Bum lifestyle everyday with a new friend I met from Alaska there.

Drinking until sunrise, than taking a nap and going Windsurfing everyday until sunset than drink again .

14 days later we are in the tiny Maui Airport at 9 in the morning with my hung over ### waiting to board our plane.

The kids spot Denise Richards in front of us and I tell them to be courteous and leave her alone.
Than they turn to me and inform my that I smell like a walking Beer bottle and my feet stink like Death. I guess swimming in saltwater doesn't clean as well as you would think and 14 cases of beer were leaching out of the bottom of my flip flop wearing feet.

Any ways we are boarding the plane and now I am well aware of my deadly feet. As we are slowly moving down the aisle in first class the line comes to a sudden halt , with me stopped directly in front of Denise.

She suddenly scrunched up her nose and looks down at my feet, than goes EWWWWWwwwww as she turns and looks up at me.

So for one brief moment that I ever met anyone famous in my life I left a memorable impression .

How many years driving OTR altogether ? i'm just surprised that if all you have is only 1 years driving experience your going to be used as a trainer any wonder no one in the industry is being trained properly.
