Hi, I'm looking for a company dry van and OTR that accepts new grads with no experience and straight out of school. I'm looking to stay with them a year and more. Any good companies with benefits?

Yes, where are you located; we need to know the hiring area you live in.

    HA.

You will be getting ALL the NYC loads then. You would be KING of everything going to NYC.

No excuses either. Dispatch will only tell you wat? You live there.

    Oh wait...

There is one thing dispatchers do with truckers, dispatch them away from home. So that you are out there making money.

Very few companies accept OTR straight from school these days, you will find yourself with a trainer for weeks if not months. If NYC is all you know in life you have alot to discover and enjoy in the rest of the Country. You might even find that life is grand away from that city.

I wouldn't go within 20 miles of NYC today. Too many cell phones out there in too many hands of too many idiots. And with ELDs, it's possible you can go to jail just for being there. Yeap. 10 minutes before somebody runs up under your wagon while he's texting away and dies, you were doing 5 mph over. Opps. Now you're up for manslaughter. If you hadn't been speeding back there, you wouldn't have been where you were and that texter probably would just run off onto the shoulder and lived. You have the right to remain silent. It could happen with ELDs. And everyday one more billboard (at least) goes up advertising a crash lawyer ready to take you down just because he can now. ELDs make it possible for him to.

I think the more basic reason crash lawyers profiteer on big trucks is that many companies selfinsure to the tune of a minimum 250,000 dollars. Which means if we are dented or run over by a semi.. we can count on a minimum settlement of 250K before trial.

There is one in little rock who has cashed in millions going after big rigs. It's a shame that he is able to do all of this business around here for all this time. I should have been one of those lawyers myself if I knew how many millions are involved in using the Law as a parasite to go after the trucking company just by filing a form or two at the courthouse now and then.

NYC is pretty tricky in traffic on the cross bronx. You have to be very careful up there. The last time I come through I had a little VW rabbit set up (Now there is a old cheap car... with 4 strangers inside to boot...) a insurance scam attempt against me in the rain near the Throgs and Whitebridge junction. Fortunately the ABS kicked in like it was supposed to and it all worked out well. Without that ABS Im not sure if I would have been able to loosen those brakes fast enough to get moving again out of the slide I was in.
