Bunch of ####ing ####### in this forum. The US Constitution acknowledges and guarantees the continuation of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. For many, financial success and prosperity is synonymous with happiness. The real issue isn't even the ELDs. The real issue is the HOS. Just because *you* have to have a full 12 hours of beauty sleep before you can function safely on the road doesn't mean that old Jim parked next to you has to have even six. The HOS are ridiculous, they are a blatant violation of every *individual's* rights, and they are inhibiting a driver's ability to maximize his or her yearly income.

As for the ELDs, they are a far greater safety hazard than otherwise, as they result in drivers being *OBLIGATED* to drive past the point when they should pull over to get some rest. Either their companies are demanding it, or their bank accounts are, if they have even just a few minutes left on their clocks.

As for the accusation against the OP's husband for driving "illegally", my only question for you dogs who clearly so love rolling over to get your bellies rubbed is as follows: By whose standards? The same government who knows absolutely jack #### about the industry, yet still sees fit to pass laws to destroy it, anyway? The same government responsible for your subjugation based on nought but your career choice? Fools, the lot of you!

The Founding Fathers were all in agreement on one thing, at least... If a law passed by Congress contradicts the Constitution, that so-called "law" is no law at all. It is null and void before the signatures of the House and Senate are even dry. It is inherently worthless. And it should be treated as though it were never written. Now, refer back tony original sentiment. The Constitution and Declaration of Independence affirm are *NATURAL*, *INDIVIDUAL* rights to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. And the laws governing our hours of service, logbooks, and even truck speeds all blatantly contradict those guarantees.

 

Im not totally against e-logs although sometimes they are a blessing and sometimes they are a curse. I haul cars for a living and I have to work hard to load and unload my cars and when my clock is getting near 14 hours I don't really feel like being out here anymore. I too have been out here nearly 40 years and one thing I have learned if anything is tomorrow is another day and there's always another load to be delivered and there's always more money to be made.

If your husband has been out here for 40 years then he probably remembers back in the day when the shippers and receivers didn't care diddly-squat about how little sleep you got or how many hours you had left on your log book.

They didn't care how long it took you to get loaded at the shipper they didn't care about any of the problems that happened between the shipper and the receiver. All they know is you are late and now you will have to wait behind everyone else which pretty much means the end of the day.

I remember many days when I was up for well over 24 hours and my logbook pretty much went out the window.
The solution is not taking away the e-logs the solution is getting the rates back up there so drivers won't have to be concerned with being out here longer. And good luck getting truck drivers to pulled together and do anything. You can't get truck drivers to agree to move their #### trucks off the fuel Island if they're going to be inside the truck stop so how can you expect them to agree on anything?
Trust me on this the country doesn't want us organized because if we were organized we could have whatever we want and the country would be at our Mercy.
