I would always try my best to avoid afternoon / evening rush hour from Milwaukee down thru Chicago even with time on my clock because it just wastes too much of it. Would usually stay in R'Field or West Allis and head out at 2 am ish. You get by that whole mess like a hot knife through butter and save all or your sanity and your clock. It is actually a pleasant drive at that time of the day. I would even bypass 294 and go straight thru downtown which is faster when it's not jammed up.

That’s ok. Just hide in the corner someplace where they can’t see you.

@keen98 , you couldn't be more right so far as the whistles and bells freakin' out a student. I'm an old hand just coming back to driving and I remember bumping a dock too hard with my trainer. Camera went off and I freaked,,,,,, trainer just sittin' there laughing his ### off. It took me 10 or 15k miles to get use to it in my truck but I don't pay much attention to it anymore. Kinda like my ex #####in' at me,,,, yeah, whatever.

Be wary that shipper in Menomonee Falls,,,, no, not Quad Graphics. Never had a problem with the Quad.

Was supposed to be a live loade but shipping clerk said no, already loaded,,,, very cool says me. Drop my empty, scoot over to my load, look at my bol and 29k lbs. Ooo, double cool. Started backing under the load and it was too high, no sweat. Opened the doors and there's beer, cases and kegs. Well I got sort of suspicious all of a sudden. Strapped it in, pulled out to straighten up so to slide the tandems at 85 lbs. Back up, check gauge, back up more, check gauge,,,, all the way to front, still about 75 lbs. Uhhhhhh, 29,000 lbs you say? Contacted dispatch, told me to go weigh it, um, yeah. So I went to Richfield and hit up the truck stop. I knew this thing was pullin hard. Steer 11580, drives 35000, trailer 32700 for a gross of 79,280 with half tank of fuel. I'm dropping it in West Allis but I can't do that to the next driver so here I sit in Richfield while they reload me and I try to scale it with half tank of fuel. Was going to get below Chicago with the load I pick up in West Allis but that ain't gonna happen now.
It's been a great week so I'm not #####in', just be wary of what your bol states. Oh yeah, and in honor of @Steelersjunkie , check those trolley pins!

    Steelersjunkie Thanks this.
