This thread seems pretty dead, but I guess I’ll give it a try anyway.
How often do you guys stick your tanks? I was told by my boss to always stick my tanks... but my trainer almost never did.
He just went off the veeder-root.
I’m taking a lot of time during my drop sticking and checking my charts and doing the math... id like to be quicker, but id also like to error on the safe side, by always sticking.
Just curious what the general fuel-hauler population does regarding this.
    Thanks.

If I can, I stick before I drop and that's it, I don't bother with charts.

How do you convert inches to gallons if you don’t use a chart?

    You'll memorize the charts eventually.

I used to stick the tanks before each drop. Then the powers to be wanted us to stick before and after. I never did the after. Gallons to inch. I wouldn't know since we never used that.

We are required to stick before and after, and write readings on the BOL. We only use VeederRoot at TA truckstops. Sometimes the stores I deliver to are closed, no VeederRoot then.

The fuel hauler thread never dies! When I hauled fuel we always stuck the tanks before and after with water sensing paste. Why? Because the stick don't lie, and you would compare to veeder root and chart. After awhile you would know which tanks should be at for set amount of gallons.

I never trust veeder roots. I might get one and then compare to my stick reading, but always stick the tank. It takes longer to go in and get one if their open than it does to stick it
