    If you look close you will see the coil is actually 3 coils set side by side and banded. The only thing keeping the outer coils from flopping to the side is a couple of steel bands.

    Those are slit coils, yes they are banded together but those bands fail all the time. @brsims hauls slit coils all the time, suicide or shotgun, there's a huge difference between standard coils and slit coils
