i don’t believe there are too many differences other than setting the temp and gassing up more than usual correct? Don’t you have to get the load to the shipper by a certain time so your load doesn’t expire?

DevJohnson, Steel Tiger, Kyle G. and 2 others Thank this. -
Lot more responsibilty with reefers. Usually lots of night driving and appointment times in the wee hours. Sure, have to monitor the temperature and insure the reefer fuel tank always has plenty of fuel. I never let the reefer fuel tank get below 1/2 and will top it off whenever I fuel the truck.
Did you choose a company yet?Toomanybikes and Steel Dragon Thank this. -
Sit in a dry van and smoke reefer, best of both worlds...
HotH2o and Steel Dragon Thank this. -
Odd delivery times around the clock, lots of driving low on fuel because they load you as close to gross as possible, sometimes getting unloaded or loaded can satisfy your 10 hour break requirement.
Other than that, it's the tits.Steel Dragon Thanks this. -

Reefer is only good in a bong.
Advantages to dry van?
Lots of drop and hook.
Lots of light loads.
Quick loading and unloading, usually one hour tops.
No truck washes unless your pimpin.
Shippers receivers are actually glad to see you.
No lumper fees.
Other truckers don't hate parking next to you.
Pay is the same.Toomanybikes and SHOJim Thank this. -

I had a short stint on a wisconsin regional position during my time at roehl. It was mostly reefer, and it was awful. Now it may be better at other companies that are strictly reefer, but in my experience, on top of the regular headaches like long unloads, crazy appointment times, etc., it seemed like every time i hooked up to a new trailer, it was filthy inside and/or almost out of fuel. Totally wasn’t worth the few extra cents per mile in my opinion. I will never touch another reefer.
Steel Dragon and freightwipper Thank this.
