The trucks I run, they never need ramps rated over 9,000 lbs. Even our aluminum ramps, I think they're rated at 5,000 or 6,000. Even the heaviest trucks we haul, close to that weight. The total weight is never on the ramps all at once. Because of the wheelbase.

Keep in mind that we try to keep our max load weight down to 15,000/16,000 max. And when we're loading that heavy, that weight needs to be spread out. Some guys out there haul heavier, in my opinion, those that do should be using heavier deputy equipment.

And we do haul some equipment. Like mini excavators, tractors, backhoes, skid steers, etc.

Thanks @flatbedcarrier that helps me a lot. Now if I could only find the right trailer somewhere near the PNW. I have a couple options on the west coast, California, lol. Other than that it seems TX has some inventory right now.

Interesting conversation with a trailer dealer in Cali this morning who insisted that I had to pay California Sales Tax if I picked up the trailer inside Cali, otherwise they would have to ship to another state for delivery and wanted $1000.00 for the shipping. After a few minutes on the phone with California BOE I discover that if we use the guidelines in CA Reg 1620.1 I can purchase the trailer in California and pick it up there as long as I remove it from that state within 30-75 days depending on whether it was built inside that state or not. Additionally Reg 1620.1 allows for the trailer to later be used in Interstate Commerce and would be allowed back in CA for that use without any use or sales tax. Reg 1621 would waive the tax requirement but would restrict the trailer from coming back into CA for any reason or the tax would be owed.

We almost always go to Texas, or Oklahoma to buy new trailers.

Every time I personally buy a trailer out of state, I pay the sales tax to my state DMV at the same time I register it. I typically buy them out right though, no loan on it.

And when you finance one, the loan company typically handles the registration and tax. Sounds like a shady salesman.

Thanks guys for the words of wisdom. Trailer is paid and waiting in Texas and the truck is waiting for me in Idaho. Unless they get a Mega Cab Short Box, I will go with the Crew Long Box and hope for the best, lol. Planning to be in Houston by January 12th to hook trailer to truck. Nervous and excited both.

Decided to go with a 40ft 25900# PJ with 2x12k duals and slide in ramps, disc brakes, no air ride.

Good luck tc3500. Keep us posted on how things are going once you start rolling.

I had a guy contact me out of Southern California last night wanting to sale a trailer like you are describing. It’s a 40’ pj flat deck with pull out ramps. Not something I can use myself but If you haven’t laid any money out yet and want to talk to this guy let me know and I’ll get you his name and phone number.

I definitely will post here with updates once I am running.
Maybe would be no harm to get ahold of him, planned on starting out with a new one but I am open to something in excellent condition, Thanks.
