    I wish i would of seen this thread 10 hours ago. Would of snapped a picture of that swift dry van trailer behind me. Thats as shameful as it gets for a flatbedder.

    The worst I've seen was a gigantic pile of empty five gallon pails with the lids on in a recycle yard.. They weren't palletized, they weren't shrink wrapped, and they weren't banded.
    The shipper wanted them loaded to fourteen feet high and the full length of a 48 foot trailer.
    Plus, the driver was supposed to hand load them. By himself.
    The driver called me and told me what the shipper wanted. He said there wasn't enough rigging in the whole world to tie down a mess like that. I told the driver to head for home. Empty.
    I called the shipper, who barely spoke English, and told him we wouldn't be taking the load. He got a little chesty about it and said that the last three flatbeds he called turned the load down too. He said that where he came from...some unpronouncable Slavic country ending in 'stan...they hauled loads like that all the time.
    I told him to call somebody with a van. Or a dump truck. A garbage truck might work too.
    Funny thing, he's never called us again.

    My arse puckers up every time a hay hauler comes within half a kilometer of me. I've seen enough of those giant bales laying all obliterated in the ditch to feel my fear is justified.

    He was looking at it all wrong. He should have ordered a double drop, that way he could have stacked them even higher.
