Peterbilt says they didn't make an 08. But i don't know the month in 2007 they shut the production line down, so i suppose its possible there are a few late 07 build dates titled as an 08.

Ah ok. So all the 07 379s were built in 06. The info i read said they were produced from 87 to 07. I took that to mean they were still manufacturing them in 07.

That's right 07 model year was end of production. Or according to the salesman at Springfield. My wife ordered one for me. In the end we didn't take it because it was no more a 379 peterbilt than I am an airplane pilot. Or in my opinion what a Peterbilt should be I guess. The 389's only got worse. You can put all the chrome on one in the world. Your just masking a rattle trap. Chrome and a big CAT make a man better than nobody.

I'm not really downing the 389 or saying they are not nice trucks. They just aren't the trucks that Peterbilt made 20 years ago. They had a smell to em when you opened the door lol. If I was to buy new it would be a 389.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought getting 9mpg with a Cat powered Peterbilt with the aerodynamics of a brick was a bit strange.

Hell my 6.7L Powerstroke doesn't even do that good lol.

    Eh it's all good.
When I was a company guy I drove for a guy who had maybe 4 or 5 379s and 1 w9 that I drove. 6nz in mine. Got to drive the other 2ws pete for whatever reason the one day. It would have been about a 2000 model or so just guessing here. That is one heck of a truck. It's too bad they still don't make em today like that. I am happy enough with mine, even with it's red motor and emissions junk. Feel like I was born one generation late...as far as trucking goes anyway
