How stupid. That #### weights a ton or two or three.

It's not going to stop the stupids from running under trailers. In fact might even bounce em off into someone else...

A company has a product called AngelWing that installs behind the skirts and satisfies the requirements of this legislation. It weighs 800 pounds. Trucking is a convenient target for politicians to make themselves look good by being tough on such unsafe actors. It makes it hard for trucking to say no because it's so easy to spin that as being selfish and not concerned with safety, and the average American believes it.

More useless regulations from a state that’s one of the biggest offenders of the phrase, “let freedom ring”... Clueless politicians like Andrew Cuomo and company should not be telling us how to do our jobs. Maybe you should educate the four wheelers, teach them that driving under semi trailers like Clark Griswold did in Christmas Vacation is NOT a good idea!

Another fine example of 10 pounds of prevention for 1 once of cure.
Maybe everyone who rides in any vehicle must be required to wear a fire proof suit because sometimes people die from fire in a crash.

“With so many unpredictable accidents on the road, underride guards are an easy solution for protecting people and preventing them from dying when a car collides with a truck,” said Gillibrand.

Yeah but you know what would be actual work? Making, no FORCING, people who have accidents to re-apply for their licenses ALL OVER AGAIN.

That little "no-fault" fender bender in the parking lot because you couldn't be bothered to look before backing out? Back to 6 months of Learner's Permit with a certified driving instructor until WE THE PEOPLE feel comfortable letting you back on the road.
