You live in Dallas/Ft.Worth? Roehl Transport has school in Grand Prairie, unless they've closed it, and pays you $500.00 a week while in classroom cdl school. After getting your cdl, then you go on driver pay.
    Several more choices around Dallas/Ft.Worth.

    CK73 Thanks this.

    CK73....

You never mentioned what area of the country you are located in?

That can make a big difference in your life. If you drive out of the SE (the carolinas), there's a good chance you could avoid the snow problems associated with driving in it.

When one stands on your fuel tank at the memphis Mc Donalds at 3 am with lice hopping off the unshaven eyebrows....

Don't park there. You will run into them soon enough.

It's even worse. They have boy lizards now too. In the name of equality. *Vomits.

Dallas/Fort Worth area. I'm hoping with reefer loads the logistics of working with the biggest carrier and the likes of Wal-Mart and Target will limit trips to the Northeast and Northwest. I have no idea though, it would be nice to discuss the day to day with a current Swift driver doing reefer since the Knight merger. I need to dig around the forum some more.

My recruiter mentioned reefer is the most in demand right now and is basically recession proof. The major grocery chains are relying more on contracts instead of growing their own massive in house operations, some of which are unionized. To her credit, she also said the wait times loading/unloading is the worst part of refrigerated truck loads and will be frustrating at times. I won't be doing any of the loading/unloading though, it's no touch. Could be wrong about that, maybe there are exceptions.

But with heating, air conditioning, comfortable bed, 120v power for a TV, fridge, microwave and other cooking appliances. I'm sure there are camping tents that have all those, but I've never been in one.

McKesson Medicine, specifically high dollar loads that go to DC's east of the Rockies overnight, and are delivered by needle into patients noon or sooner that morning after it's taken off your trailer.

It's recession proof alright. Unfortunately due to the need for the drugs in that place, you get to deliver to DC's close to say NYC the day after 911 as we did. You take the good with the bad. It's for us essentially the ultimate in trucking as a team back then, I would do it again in a heart beat if medical science issued a new spine or something.

Poor me, sleeping in a 2017 "RV" without a toilet watching netflix, surfing the net, and being paid 50k first year to travel. This home cooked steak and baked potato tastes awful. Wish I was back in that cubicle. That's me trying to imagine this whole thing as a positive experience in the future.

And we wonder why drivers don’t receive more respect and pay.
