Unless you can be a really good sheep with a brown nose you know. This is just another ploy to get rid of the real truckers again, Them big companies want the lions share so they can rule the world, sometimes the ones that have been around for a long time know when to step aside for a while, when to come back because it will fall apart.

You get paid a real amount elogs shouldn't be a problem and I'm anti elog cause I'm all about freedom but if you willingly run for .90cpm then that's your problem and why the rates are what they are so stop complaining! I refused to work for bottom feeders including equity making over 2 dollars a mile and paying you guys .90 cents it's a joke.Wow,you run for them for a couple of years and you get the title for a beat up freightliner worth nothing! In the mean time you could've ran for a company that pays real money .55 cpm plus with good health insurance and saved for a down payment on a glider with a pre 2000 engine if you don't want to run elogs.

Hubby is now on a run from NC to back to Michigan. Good start after a relaxing Christmas. He was gonna take our male dog but when he started truck I saw exhaust under cab. He has a hole in pipe so I took dog back as he will be going into shop. Also has a minor air bag leak he finally found too. We're thinking he might be due for service also so get it all done now.

We're not really against Elogs as long as there used correctly. But experience has proven otherwise. With OD they used them to monitor how truck was driven and penalized you if your RPMs were not in the limited They told you to be in. Unfortunately there RPM limit was not even in specs for engine at the miles or geared used and dogged it way down. Which made it real hard to pull mountains. This is just one way they are used wrong by Megas.

As far as running with a company and saving to buy it was not a option for us. We run a small farm ,which I am shutting down this next year. If hubby had stayed with OD he would have lost his job because they went No Tabocco and hubby chews. He was not giving it up so he needed a nother option. Being he had only driven for OD he didn't know the other side of driving that was not terminal to terminal. He needed to learn that side while learning to be able to be OO. Equity worked for both very well for this.

Since he did have so much to learn and he wanted his own truck. It was a win win for him. No money down, yes, he had to work company for 90 days, which we planned on. But truck would be repaired as needed without us coming up with money since we are paying into a maintenance fund. That right there is one lesson most company drivers that buy there own trucks never do or learn to do before it's too late. The on the job training hubby is getting in dealing with customers and receivers is priceless. With OD unless your a City driver you never dealt with the public. It's all dispatched from terminal to terminal otherwise.

So we have one more year left to payoff with no balloon payment. Work done has been new turbo, starter, most of the exhaust and now new transmission. Engine was fully rebuilt and zero miles when hubby get truck. It's a army engine a 98 and a hubby got to break it in right. This was the ones he was trained and worked on in the National Guard motor pool. That was just luck or fate for us.

Going the way we did is not for everyone but for us it has worked. I am thankful that Equity has this program. Many have gone threw it and gotten their titles to there trucks. Some have stayed with Equity and some have moved on to other companies. No company is perfect and some are way worse than others. Some companies have growing pains and people make mistakes. Not justifing just saying. For us and what we needed Equity works.

Sure hubby might have been able to buy his own truck threw LM. But he probably would have lost it too as he had zero experience with the customer and receiver side of trucking. Right now he has more solid knowledge base than before in running a truck company. Which no company driver has getting on his own unless he has been there before. Company driving and OO are two different worlds. To succeed you need to learn the OO is a Business and run it as such.

See here’s the problem I have. You have people telling you how things are run in other aspects of trucking, and you tell us to screw off and how you know it all. As you’re learning, not many companies work terminal to terminal. Always keep an open mind and be willing to learn from others that have been there done that.

There is No problem as this is my thread documenting Our journey to owning our own truck. Problem comes from those company drivers who think there way is the only way and OO is obsolete and foolish. Fact is company drivers are far less than OO. If you don't believe me look up the numbers for yourself. Company driving equal salve labor to some because you have no choice in anything and will get paid less than worth and fired for nothing.

Majority of company drivers get paid less than 50 cpm. When they should be paid 80 cpm or better with benefits. After all no driver no income end of story.

There are threads for company drivers, log haulers, oil field, flatbed, tanker, even mechanics, on this site. There are also OO threads and L/P threads. This offers a variety of narratives for others to enjoy and comment or ask questions. Everyone's experience is unique and therefore, valuable. If you don't like what you see on one thread, put in your 2 cents then move on. Let the folks who are benefiting from the thread have a little rest from the negativity.
