Haven’t posted on here in a while. I was planning on going to school in November but a new job opportunity came up and I put it on hold. If this job falls through by the end of January I’m gonna start school in February. I was thinking to say screw it and go with Roadmaster although it’s expensive but it gives me the opportunity to do the schooo while I keep my job. Or try to company sponsored program with pam since they have a location here in Orlando. My only real concern is the DOT physical. I am worried about blood pressure and the possibilities of sleep apnea. If I go through a sleep study with a private practice will other trucking companies require me to go trough another study in the future? Even if I have proof documented that it is under control with a cpap or something? My other concern is blood pressure. The other day I read at a 166/98. My doctor told me four months ago at my last appointment if ya not under control or if I haven’t lost extra weight by my return visit that he’s going to put me on medication to control it. And I visit him January 8th so that will be under control. My sugar was at 86 theo months ago after a 11 hour fast for blood work so not concerned there. I just stress a lot. I want to get out in the road. Knock out this first year and find a job where I can go home every night .

You can start as a sleep at home truck driver. It's not open roads looking at western scenery near sunset type of truck driving. It might be dump truck, roll-on/roll-off, yard truck, etc.

I think many CPAP machines monitor your use. When you get your DOT medical, if you are prescribed CPAP, you bring in your machine or the memory card and they look at the record of use. One sleep study should be enough. If they prescribe a CPAP you use it and if you change jobs you might have to show them your CPAP records and pass the rest of the medical exam. That's my understanding.

Blood pressure, if it's high enough you go on medication. If you're on BP medication you get a 1 year DOT card. Having a 1 year DOT card isn't going to keep you from getting 99% of trucking jobs. The very few jobs you can't get because of the 1 year card you probably weren't getting anyway for other reasons.

Isn’t a 1 years for card the best that you can get?
